COMPLETE RING OF HONOR WAR OF THE WORLDS: LOWELL COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2018-05-09 21:50:00

ROH TV Champion Silas Young & Beer City Bruiser & Brian Milonas vs. Tetsuya Naito & IWGP Tag Team Champions EVIL & SANADA.

The crowd was super into LIJ and Naito in particular.  Naito was triple teamed quite a bit for the early portion of the bout.  Young used a slingshot double stomp for a two count on Naito.  Young verbally trashed Naito, telling him to fight him like a man.  Naito fired up with some right hands, but he was overwhelmed and triple-teamed again in the corner.  Beer City Bruiser nailed some big right hands but was finally caught with a tornado DDT off the ropes.

SANADA tagged in and looked good, hitting a great dropkick on Bruiser.  SANADA took down Silas and tied him up on the mat before he nailed a dropkick.  Milonas cut him off but missed a back senton splash.  EVIL tagged in and the two biggest men on each team faced off.  EVIL nailed a big clothesline and a bronco buster in the corner.

LIJ began cleaning house but Team Young sandwiched them together.  Milonas slammed SANADA and EVIL at the same time.   SANADA was backdropped into Milonas’ arms.  Milonas nailed a big sit down powerbomb.  Bruiser nailed a flip dive to the outside but accidentally wiped out Silas.

LIJ swarmed over Milonas and nailed a triple powerbomb out of the corner.  They methodically took him down with clotheslines and kicks.   EVIL nailed a STO and scored the pin on Milonas.

Your winners, LIJ!

A fun showcase of ROH’s six-man tag team bouts.  Milonas is beyond underrated.  Everyone looked good.

Jay Lethal vs. Jay White vs. Chuckie T.

Lethal looked strong early, including hitting dives on each.  White and Chuckie spent a lot of time double teaming Lethal.  The story was White was throwing out all sort of punishing moves and Chuckie was sort of taking credit for them.  Lethal finally nailed Chuckie and sent him to the floor.  He nailed White then went to the top.  He was too woozy to hit a move so he jumped back down and cinched in a figure four leglock.   White pulled himself to the outside.  Taylor returned to the ring and caught Lethal with a sit-down powerbomb.

White and Taylor turned on each other and began battling back and forth.  Taylor nailed a big knee and went for a suplex.  White escaped and nailed a big back suplex.   He drilled him with a German suplex but Lethal returned and nailed a superkick.  Lethal went for the Lethal Injection but White blocked it.  Lethal nailed it a second time but Taylor dove on Lethal and scored the pin.  The crowd popped huge for that.

Your winner, Chuckie T!

Nice finish that made sense as Chuckie vs. Lethal is set for Chicago on Sunday.

ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions So Cal Uncensored vs. The Kingdom

Everyone brawled.  The Kingdom took control and worked over Scorpio Sky.  They made it a point to show Taven's family in the first row, including his grandfather.   Marseglia went under the ring and apparently pulled Kazarian under.  When he returned, the red ballons were wrapped around Kazarian's neck.  The Kingdom double teamed Kazarian as he was trapped by the balloons.

Kazarian finally fought his way out and tagged out to Daniels.  They battled back and forth.   TK drilled him with a big dropkick and followed up with a big axehandle on Daniels.  TK rolled up Daniels but Kazarian grabbed him and tossed him out of the ring to the floor.     When O'Ryan returned to the ring, Daniels whipped him hard into the buckles.  Kazarian and Sky held up their boots for Daniels to run TK into them in the corner.  So Cal Uncensored began hitting a series of big moves on O'Ryan, trying to wear him down.  The Champions spent a lot of time beating him down, scoring near falls.  Daniels spit at the challengers, but the referee stopped them from hitting the ring.  That allowed the Champs to stomp away at O'Ryan.

Taven made the hot tag and began cleaning house, including a big quebrada on Daniels.  The Kingdom set up for a triple powerbomb on Daniels but Kazarian made the save.  Sky hit a great leaping top rope rana.  Everyone battled.  They went into a ridiculous series of guys hitting big moves on each other.   Kazarian hit a slingshot into a cutter on Taven.  Marseglia went to attack but was hit with a big Uranage and the Best Moonsault Ever.  Daniels covered him but the referee was pulled out of the ring.  Sky hit a big dive but wiped out the referee as well.  Daniels had the pin obviously but there was no one to count it.

TK attacked Daniels and nailed him with a DDT.  The title belt and a baseball bat were brought into the equation.  In the end, Taven nailed a top rope frog splash and scored the pin.

Your winners and new ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions, The Kingdom!

The finish was pretty much guaranteed by Taven's promo earlier.  Putting the belts on the locals as a way to make up for the title match being yanked was a smart way to pop the crowd.  Everyone worked their butts off here.

The Young Bucks vs. BUSHI & Hiromu Takahashi.

The Bucks were super over.  As you might imagine lots of fast paced action.   BUSHI hit a rana on both Bucks at the same time.  He looked great early on.  He and Takahashi focused their attack on Matt Jackson’s bad back.

Takahashi looked strong, working on Matt.  They brought him all the way up to the stage.   They attempted to double suplex Matt, who was able to battle his way out of it.  Jackson fought them off the stage and nailed a flip dive off the stage onto them.  The place erupted for that.

Back in the ring, Takahashi regained control before Matt could tag out to Nick.   Matt was able to spear him and finally made the tag.    The Bucks made a comeback and locked on stereo Texas Cloverleafs until BUSHI and Takahashi made it to the ropes.

The Bucks nailed a combination frog splash/moonsault for a two count on Takahashi.  Nick fired away with a knee on Takahashi, who ducked, with Matt eating it instead.   Takahashi and BUSHI worked on Matt and scored several two counts.  Takahashi elevated Matt on his shoulders.  BUSHI went for a move off the top but Matt grabbed him and nailed a superplex.  Nick came off the top with a swanton but was too spent to try and make the pinfall.

The Bucks called for the superkick party and set up to nail Takahashi.  He blocked the first one but was wiped out by the follow-ups.  They went to set up for the Meltzer Driver but BUSHI took out Nick.  BUSHI distracted the referee, allowing Takahashi to spew mist in Matt’s face.  Matt began laying everyone out with superkicks, including the referee.  He even put the Texas Cloverleaf on the ref, who tapped.

All sorts of insanity.  BUSHI nailed a Canadian Destroyer on Matt for a two count.  The Bucks nailed all sorts of superkicks on Takahashi.  BUSHI nailed a great suicide dive to the outside.  The Bucks finally ended it with the Meltzer Driver and scored the pin.

Your winner, The Young Bucks!

It was the usual entertaining Young Bucks show to close us out.

Overall, it was the usual experience you’d expect from ROH.
