John Cena came out for his...whatever this is...against Undertaker. He's dressed to wrestle and....nothing happens.
The lights went out and....it's ELIAS. He's playing a song as he walked to the ring. The crowd is booing this. They are chanting for Undertaker. He told Cena to back up as he'll take it from here. A dejected Cena returned to his seat in the front row as Elias played.
Cena returned and laid out Elias. They played his music. Cena walked out but the lights went out. A spotlight shined down to the ring, where Undertaker's jacket and hat were, right where he left them last year. There was a "lightning strike" and they were gone. Cena looked around and went to leave but then....
GONG.
The Undertaker has returned.
Awesome production for the entrance with fireballs, lasers and all the bells and whistle. It was big league Broadway.
The bell rang.
Like Daniel LaRusso, The Undertaker is gonna fight!
The facial expressions for each man were just incredible here.
They had a short match where they fought back and forth. Cena's looks when Taker sat up were awesome. This wasn't Undertaker trying to have a classic or even a long match but as a special additional attraction, it was fine. The fans wanted to see Undertaker and they got him. Cena got his match. It was really all about the spectacle of the entrance and the tease of the return and that story played out well before our eyes here in NOLA. The match won't be remembered, but the moment will be.
They introduced the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame class. No Howard Finkel to introduce them makes me so bummed.
They gave Goldberg the complete entrance including the pyro. Congrats to everyone who was inducted. I really liked the class this year.
Next up is the return of Daniel Bryan. The hits keep on coming!
Nice reaction for Shane. HUGE REACTION for Daniel Bryan. I had chills when he led the Yes chant. Amazing what a full circle he has come in his journey.
Owens and Zayn attacked them from the crowd and immediately powerbombed Bryan on the apron, with the idea being they took him out of the match. McMahon is going to go two on one. If this builds to Bryan doing the Spirit of '76 comeback, I am all for it.
It was pretty much Owens and Zayn working over Shane and trying to send him back to the hospital. Shane nailed the Van Terminator/Coast to Coast. Owens wiped him out with a senton. They had him beaten but DANIEL BRYAN RETURNED AND MADE THE SAVE.
Shane was worked over but finally made the tag to Bryan. When Bryan rebounded off the ropes and nailed his clothesline, the Dome exploded. Bryan nailed a missile dropkick and acted as if he had hurt his head, then did the kip up and the place exploded. He nailed dropkicks in the corner and you could see he has modified how he took the bumps a little. He looked great in the ring but Owens grabbed his leg, allowing Zayn to strike with the Heluva Kick. Now, it was Bryan's turn to be worked over.
Owens nailed a big pop up powerbomb but when Bryan kicked out, the crowd popped. Shane pulled the ropes down and Owens flew to the outside. Shane hit a dive off the apron. Zayn was excellent working over Bryan with punches as he demanded to know why Bryan did this to him. Bryan came back and nailed the Yes Kicks. He nailed a final big Yes Kick and locked on the Yes Lock, forcing the submission.
Well, I guess Owens and Zayn will be Raw bound eventually!
Bryan went to the floor to get a well earned kiss from his wife and returned to the ring for a final round of Yes chants. AWESOME moment.
Shane McMahon looked to be hurting so you have to give him a lot of respect. He is a crazy man.
They announced 78,000 plus in attendance. They were pushing at NXT and the Hall of Fame live that "select" tickets were available.
