Rey Mysterio Jr.'s music plays and he makes his way to the ring.
He asks how everyone is doing. He says that he was going to come out here to apologize to everyone face to face. He says it sucks. Unfortunately, accidents happen and he suffered a torn bicep two weeks ago. This match that was supposed to happen is not going to happen tonight. It does not mean that it is not going to happen. Rey says he has the utmost respect for Liger. If it happened in December 1996, why can't it happen again.
Rey says he gives his word. He will come back as soon as he is ready and he will step in this ring and wrestle for New Japan.
Match Number Six: Jushin "Thunder" Liger versus Will Ospreay
They shake hands before the bell rings and they lock up. Liger with a single leg take down and a rocking chair into a chin lock. Liger sets for the surfboard and he gets Ospreay up and then sends Will face first to the mat. Liger with a chop. Liger with another chop and Irish whip but Ospreay floats over and then he trips Liger and Ospreay with a hesitation drop kick. Ospreay with a European uppercut and then he wraps up Liger and hammer locks the arm with one leg and then he bridges back but Liger gets to the ropes. Ospreay with a snap mare and reverse chin lock.
Liger punches Ospreay and Ospreay with a kick. Liger with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker. Liger with a cannonball off the apron. Liger takes Ospreay into the aisle and he hits a brainbuster on the floor. Liger returns to the ring and poses while Ospreay is not moving so fast. Ospreay gets back to his feet and dives back in right before the twenty count. Liger with a running palm strike and then he hits a Liger Bomb for a near fall. Liger puts Ospreay on the turnbuckles and hits a Frankensteiner. Ospreay with a handspring round kick. Ospreay with a Sasuke special onto Liger.
Ospreay with a standing shooting star press for a near fall. Liger is put in the ropes and Ospreay thinks about it and then he tries to channel Rey but misses the 619. Liger with a rolling kick but Ospreay with a standing C4 for a near fall. Ospreay with a leaping spinning kick and then he sets for the OsCutter but Liger blocks it and Liger with a brainbuster for a near fall. Liger puts Ospreay on the turnbuckles and hits a superplex. Liger with a cover but Ospreay gets his foot on the ropes.
Liger sets for the Shotei but Ospreay moves. Ospreay with a hook kick but Liger with a Shotei for a near fall. Ospreay with a sit out power bomb for a near fall. Ospreay with a round kick and back heel kick. Ospreay hits the OsCutter for the three count.
Winner: Will Ospreay
After the match, Ospreay shows his respect to Liger. Mysterio applauds Ospreay's performance.
Will gets on the mic and he says that is Junior Heavyweight wrestling at its best. Will says he would be so proud if he could wrestle like Liger at age 53. Will thanks Liger for everything he has done in his career.
Will says when he won this title at Wrestle Kingdom, he wanted to carve out his own legacy. To do that, he has to go through legends. Will looks at Rey and says that some of you can boo him and you can cheer him, but he is no one's replacement. He is the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. He has been putting on the best matches he can for his six year career. He wants to put the title on a different level, so what about Ospreay versus Mysterio.
Marty Scurll attacks Ospreay from behind.with an umbrella.
Mysterio comes into the ring and Marty pulls off Mysterio's mask.
Marty leaves when Liger returns to the ring and Rey puts his mask back on.
Rey offers his hand to Ospreay and he helps Will up (off camera) and they shake hands.
Match Number Seven: Tomohiro Ishii and Kazuchika Okada versus Zack Sabre Jr. and MInoru Suzuki
Sabre and Okada start things off and Sabre with a waist lock. Okada goes for a wrist lock but Sabre escapes. They lock up and Sabre with a waist lock and head scissors. Okada with a cover but Sabre escapes and he shows Okada no respect. They go for a test of strength and Sabre with a wrist lock and fist in the middle of the back. Sabre puts his head in the back to add pressure but Okada reverses. Okada keeps Sabre from escaping and Sabre with a kick and then Sabre avoids The Rainmaker.
Ishii and Suzuki tag in. Suzuki has something to say to Ishii and he pushes Ishii. They go back and forth with forearms. Suzuki gains the advantage but misses with a boot. Ishii with a running shoulder tackle. Suzuki with a kick and then he applies a triangle in the ropes. Sabre attacks Okada and applies an abdominal stretch while Suzuki sends Ishii into the guardrails. Suzuki grabs a chair and hits Ishii with it.
Suzuki sends Ishii into the crowd and Sabre with a European uppercut to Okada as they batle around the ring. Suzuki hits Ishii with a water bottle. Sabre puts Okada's arm in the guardrail and Sabre kicks the guardrails. Suzuki with a chop to Okada against the guardrail. Ishii with chops and Suzuki wants more. Suzuki with a forearm and Sabre grabs Ishii by the nose and Suzuki with more punches. Sabre tags in and he applies the Fujiwara Arm Bar and Suzuki with an ankle lock. Sabre and Suzuki with a series of double submission holds including an STF and more Fujiwara arm bars.
Sabre stomps on the leg. Sabre kicks Ishii in the back while flipping off Okada. Suzuki tags in and he kicks Ishii and gives Ishii a snap mare. Suzuki knocks Okada off the apron and then he applies a heel hook and he has the leg grapevined. Ishii makes it to the ropes. Suzuki with more kicks to Ishii and then he slaps Ishii and hits a head butt. Sabre tags in and he kicks Ishii, showing Ishii no respect and it pisses off Ishii. The kicks get more intense and Ishii blocks a kick and he goes for a German suplex but Sabre blocks. it. Ishii with a belly-to-back suplex and both men are down.
Okada tags in and he knocks Suzuki off the apron. Okada with a running back elbow. Okada with an Irish whip and elbow into the corner followed by a kick and DDT. Okada gets a near fall. Okada gets Sabre up and Sabre with a guillotine followed by a European uppercut. Okada sets for the Air Raid Shoulder Breaker but Sabre counters into an octopus. Eventually, Okada gets to the ropes. Sabre goes for the octopus and Suzuki keeps Ishii on the apron. Sabre escapes a tombstone attempt and goes for a double wrist lock submission. Ishii breaks up the submission attempt and Suzuki kicks Ishii.
Sabre with a European uppercut and he slaps Okada. Okada with a forearm but Sabre with a European uppercut. Okada with a hip toss and a cobra clutch. Sabre with a European uppercut and Okada with a back slide and Sabre avoids the Rainmaker. Sabre with a Pele Kick to the arm and Suzuki tags in and he kicks Okada in the arm. Suzuki with a sleeper and he tries for the cradle piledriver but Okada counters into an Air Raid Crash neck breaker. Ishii tags in and he connects with forearms and chops.
Ishii with an Irish whip and Suzuki with a boot out of the corner. They continue alternating forearms. Suzuki with a forearm that staggers Ishii. Ishii fires back. Suzuki with another forearm and Ishii struggles to stay on his feet. Ishii with another forearm. Suzuki with a third forearm and Ishii leans against the ropes. Suzuki with more forearms but Ishii with a forearm and he tries for a Saito suplex but Suzuki blocks it. Suzuki with a guillotine but Ishii with a suplex. Suzuki with a sleeper followed by a knee to the midsection.
Sabre tags in and he knocks Okada off the apron. Sabre with an Irish whip and Sabre with a running European uppercut and Suzuki with a Yakuza Kick followed by a double kick for a near fall. Suzuki holds Okada at bay on the floor. Ishii blocks a kick and hits a head butt. Ishii with a power bomb for a near fall. Okada sends Suzuki into the guardrail. Sabre with a guillotine. Ishii with a forearm and Okada with a few drop kicks. Ishii with a sliding clothesline for a near fall.
Okada sends Suzuki to the floor but Suzuki pulls Okada to the floor. Sabre with a European uppercut and then Sabre with a cross arm breaker but Suzuki stops Okada from helping out. Sabre sets for Orienteering with Napalm Death and locks it in. The referee calls for the bell.
Winners: Minoru Suzuki and Zack Sabre Jr.
After the match, Sabre with an Octopus on Okada and he kicks Okada in the head before releasing the hold.
Sabre and Suzuki attack the referee.
We are told that New Japan returns to the United States on July 7th. It will be at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Fighting Spirit Unleashed.
Match Number Eight: IWGP US Heavyweight Championship Match: Jay White versus Adam Page
Page misses a clothesline and White with punches and chops. Page misses another punch and White with a chop. Page misses a chop and White connects. White with a running forearm but he misses a splash into the corner. White runs into a boot and Page punches White. Page yells at the referee for getting involved. Page with a belly-to-back suplex for a near fall. White with a drop kick and a belly-to-back suplex. White with a step over toe hold into a Muta Lock.
White tries to keep Page from getting to the ropes and Page eventually succeeds. Page sits on the apron and White with a chop. White with another chop. Page with a kick and forearm. White with a kick and chop. Page with a kick and neckbreaker hanging in the ropes and both men go to the floor. Page sends White into the guardrails. Page picks up White in a fireman's carry position and he tosses White into the ring post.
They return to the ring and Page kicks White and picks up White and hits a bridging fallaway slam for a near fall. White with a European uppercut but Page with a kick. Page catches White on his shoulders on a leap frog attempt and hits a back breaker for a near fall. Page kicks White in the head and has some words for him. White with forearms and a chop. Page with a kick and he tries for a suplex but White lands on his feet. Page with elbows to try to get out of the waist lock but White with a snap German suplex.
