DREAMER VS. ALDIS FOR NWA TITLE, TV TITLE TOURNAMENT & MORE: COMPLETE HOUSE OF HARDCORE COVERAGE FROM PHILADELPHIA

HOH TV TITLE TOURNAMENT: SECOND CHANCE MATCH – Sami Callihan vs. MJF vs. Ace Romero

Callihan got the biggest reaction of the three.  The story was that one of them would be removed from competition, with the other two battling.

Callihan had fans outside on the floor hold MJF’s arms so Callihan could chop him.   He went to the top but MJF shoved the referee into the ropes to cause Callihan to crotch himself.  MFJ went for a superplex but Romero knocked him off the ropes.  Romero went and nailed the superplex, crashing Callihan down into MJF, who was charging to try and stop the move.

The battle continued with MFJ nailing a piledriver for a two count.  Romero stalked him.  MJF has a good gift for gab.  Romero nailed a sit-out powerbomb.  Callihan nailed a superkick to ward off Romero.  Romero drilled him and hit a back splash senton for a two count, broken up when MJF got involved.

MJF and Callihan nailed a series of kicks.  They finally teamed to drill Romero together to take him down.   MJF attacked Callihan and nailed a Canadian Destroyer.  Romero grabbed MJF and nailed one on his own.

Romero then hit a dive to the outside on his opponents, which was quite the sight to see.  Romero nailed a big Uranage and another back senton splash on MJF, who kicked up at two.

Romero climbed to the top but Callihan returned to the ring, attacking the back of his knees.  Callihan pulled him up on his shoulders and nailed a Death Valley Driver but MJF rolled him up for a two count.

Callihan nailed him with a double underhook shoulderbreaker and scored the pin.

Callihan attacked MJF and teased repeating the baseball bat spot that occurred in Impact Wrestling with Eddie Edwards.  Callihan teased doing it, then give the middle finger to the crowd and walked out.

HOH TV TITLE TOURNAMENT: Willie Mack vs. Brian Cage

They did some back and forth grappling early.  Cage used a side headlock.  Mack did a number of lucha takeovers and looked really good early on.

Mack nailed some chops in the corner.  Mack went for a piledriver, but Cage blocked and nailed an Alabama Slam.  He followed up with a German suplex for a two count.

Cage drilled Mack with a series of shoulderblocks in the corner.  Cage locked in a side chinlock.  Mack was worked over but made a comeback with a slam and a legdrop.  Mack charged but was caught with a superkick.  Mack responded with a bicycle kick and a suplex. 

Cage hit an exploder and they faced off.  They charged and nailed double clotheslines.  They went back and forth with near falls.  Cage went for a powerbomb, but Mack escaped and nailed a big right hand. Mack nailed a pump kick into the corner, followed by a cannonball for a two count.  Cage kept nailing big moves, but Mack kept kicking up.

Mack nailed a flapjack for a two count.   Mack nailed a splash for another two count.  The battle continued with Cage tried to the tree of woe.   Mack set up for a Van Daminator and nailed it.  That was the best spot on the show by far.

Mack nailed another frog splash and scored the pin.

NWA champion Nick Aldis (with Austin Idol) vs. Tommy Dreamer.

 

They locked up and muscled each other into the corner, then shoved each other.  Aldis shoulderblocked Dreamer down, showboating with a cartwheel.  Dreamer did a piss-poor one in response and got a pop.

Dreamer took down Aldis and nailed an elbowdrop for a two count.  He went for a DDT, but Aldis avoided the move.  Dreamer was snapped across the ropes and went to the floor.  Austin Idol slammed him backward into the ring post.  Dreamer came up bleeding.

Aldis worked over Dreamer on the floor with punches.  Idol took off his belt and whipped Dreamer with it on the floor as Aldis distracted the referee.

Hanson stomped away on Dreamer when he returned to the ring and used the catapult to snap Dreamer’s throat into the bottom rope.   Aldis nailed a suplex for a two count.  Aldis cinched in a rear chinlock.   He sent Dreamer into the ropes, but Dreamer kicked him.  Aldis, undeterred, nailed a clothesline to take Dreamer down.

Aldis sunk in a side chinlock but the crowd rallied Dreamer, who made a comeback.  Aldis whipped Dreamer into the ropes but Dreamer kicked him off.  Aldis nailed a Michinoku Driver for a two count and went back to the side chinlock.

Dreamer made a comeback and nailed a piledriver in the center of the ring.  Aldis kicked out at the last second.  Dreamer went to the floor.  Idol tried to attack him, but Dreamer nailed him with a right hand, then whipped him with the belt.  Dreamer brought the belt into the ring and whipped Aldis, then spewed water in his face.  Dreamer nailed a stunner for a two count.

Dreamer tied up Aldis’ legs with the belt and cinched in a figure four leglock, trying to force a submission.   Idol distracted the referee.  Aldis finally made it to the ropes, forcing the break.

Dreamer pulled him back into the center and went for it again, but Aldis raked his eyes and drilled the back of Dreamer’s knee.  He locked in a Texas Cloverleaf.  Dreamer reached for the ropes, but Idol pulled it away.  Dreamer still finally made it to the ropes.

Aldis went to the top but Dreamer caught him with a series of rights and nailed a superplex for a two count.    Dreamer went under the ring for a table.  Aldis nailed a lowblow as Dreamer was setting it up.  Aldis placed him face first across the table.  He went to the top for a flying elbow, but Dreamer moved and Aldis smashed through the table.  Dreamer yelled “HOH” and nailed the DDT, scoring a close two count.

Dreamer wedged a chair in the corner and set up for the Spicoli Driver into the corner.  Aldis escaped and shoved Dreamer into the chair, then nailed a piledriver. Aldis nailed a flying elbow for the pin.

After the match, Dreamer took the NWA title and looked at it, with the idea that he was going to present it to Aldis, but Idol took it from im forcefully.

Dreamer tried to show respect to Aldis but was blown off and insulted before the NWA champ exited
