JUSHIN LIGER & MORE: 3/16 AAW 14th ANNIVERSARY LIVE REPORT FROM CHICAGO

By Jeremy Boone on 2018-03-18 14:19:00

Tyler Volz & Marty DeRosa welcome us to AAW Epic: The 14 Year Anniversary taking place at 115 Bourbon Street in Marionette Park.  The room has around 720 strong in attendance to celebrate AAW's 14 Year Anniversary.

Ace Romero def. Hakim Zane - 4:03

Acey Baby has been becoming a newer fan favorite of Chicago as he is a larger heavyweight competitor that can move impressively for somebody his size.  Ace gets dominated early by Zane only to come back and score the pin for the win.

Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz def. Trey Miguel & Stephen Wolf - 9:12

Fresh off their return from Japan, Xavier & Wentz came together and had a fast paced, hard hitting match against Miguel & Wolf.  The groups brought a fun scramble style match which ended with Wentz pinning Miguel.  All four guys showed each other respect after the match.

Backstage Promo: DJZ is being interviewed.  He knows that many think he is injury-proned, but he is setting forth tonight to prove that he is still one of the best.

Myron Reed def. DJZ - 9:01

This match is what you come to expect from Reed and DJZ.  Both had some great moments in the match including a jumping Senton off the guard railing by Reed, but in the end Reed barely gets the pin and escapes with the win.  DJZ is obviously upset as the pin came out of nowhere.

Backstage Promo: Marty DeRosa interviews the AAW Tag Team Champions, The Besties in the World, who are joined by Colt Cabana (aka Colt Ca-Bestie) & Scarlett Bordeaux.  Tensions are building obviously between Fitchett & Vega as Fitchett does not agree with Scarlett's involvement, especially since she used to manage Connor Braxton, their opponent tonight.

Connor Braxton / Curt Stallion / Jake Something def. Colt Cabana & The Besties In The World (Davey Vega / Mat Fitchett) w/ Scarlett Bordeaux - 10:22

The mixture of Cabana with the Besties always leads to a fun match with a lot of comedic spots.  The tension continues to escalate with the Besties as there were many times in the match where Fitchett chose Cabana over tagging in his partner.  There was an awesome spot near the end of the match which led to Scarlett climbing the top rope to perform the Doomsday Device on Curt Stallion along with Davey Vega.  As Vega is distracted, Something gets the pin on Vega, setting up the challenge for 3/31 in Lasalle with the Tag Team Championship on the line.

AAW Women's Championship Match
Jessicka Havok (c) def. Hudson Envy - 6:21

It is always great seeing women's wrestling come back to the Chicago shows as they are usually front and center at the Lasalle shows.  Jessicka defeats the debuting Hudson Envy to retain the Women's Championship.

Sami Callihan def. Eddie Kingston (w/ David Starr) - 9:03

This match can sum up AAW's past 5 years as it is these two that really were the heart and soul during their runs.  Eddie Comes to the ring only for David Starr to come out and instruct him to the back and re-enter the ring using the "proper music."  If you are not following the story between Eddie Kingston & David Starr, you are missing out.  Eddie Kingston is forced to come out to Starr's music and wearing the WRSTLING shirt against his wishes, but he must due to losing at the Windy City Classic.  The match turned into a straight brawl and a lot of the story was leading to Callihan working of his notoriety and going for the baseball bat.  Callihan scored the pin on Kingston and then post match set the chair over Kinston as if he was going to do the bat/chair spot again.  Kingston rolled out of the ring immediately and started verbally assaulting Callihan with some choice words, only to leave through the crowd.  Callihan later exited through the crowd with bat in hand.

Video: AAW announces that it will be coming to Twitch starting March 21st.  You can follow them at twitch.tv/aawpro

MJF def. PACO - 3:51

This match showed the dominance of MJF as he beat one of Chicago's favorites, PACO.  Post match, Ace Romero comes out to PACO's aid setting up a feud between the two of them.

OI4K / OVE (Dave Crist & Jake Crist) def. Joey Janela & Teddy Hart - 12:17

This was just a great off the wall match involving the teams involved. Teddy Hart is crazy.  I will leave it at that.  In the middle of the match as the teams began to brawl in the crowd, Teddy Hart scaled the stairs and performed a moonsault off the balcony, which required little room for error.  OI4K perform thier double team Killing Spree for the win.

Keith Lee def. Moose - 15:02

This had to have been the match of the night.  Keith Lee always delivers every time he shows up to AAW.  Moose and Keith Lee have just an fun as hell back and forth match that led to Keith Lee besting Moose.  Be sure to check out the DVD/digital download to see this match.

ACH & Jushin Thunder Liger vs. WRSTLING (David Starr & Trevor Lee)

Trevor Lee grabs the mic before the match begins to run down ACH and Liger.  As Trevor begins to berate Liger and saying how suitable that it is Austin 3:16 day on this 16th day of March, Liger comes out of nowhere and starts the match with a Stone Cold Stunner.  Just a fun match to end the show which saw your AAW Heavyweight Champion with the pin to take the win.  Liger looked great as always.
