DRAGON LEE VS. TITAN, ULTIMO DRAGON VS. EL MISTERIOSO & MORE: COMPLETE PRO WRESTLING REVOLUTION 10th ANNIVERSARY COVERAGE FROM SAN JOSE, CA

By Mike Johnson on 2018-02-25 00:59:00

Pro Wrestling Revolution are holding their 10th anniversary event in San Jose, CA before a sold out Mount Pleasant High School with a live broadcast on Twitch.  You can watch the show live by clicking here.

We missed the first match due to finishing up coverage of Pro Wrestling Blitzkrieg in Connecticut.  That bout saw Malandro & Diablo Azteca & El Mariachi Jr. defeat Grappler III & Zuca & Ojo Blanco.

Our announcers are Jon Roberts and the illustrious Kevin Gill.

“Papa Esco” Raul Escobar vs. Pantera Jr.

Esco was billed as “The Lucha Killer” and was obviously a heel.   Pantera attacked with a big knee at the bell, trying to wear down the larger man.  He went for an armdrag but Escobar was too strong.  Pantera finally nailed an armdrag takedown, sending Escobar to the floor.  He grabbed a ring bell and teased returning to the ring with it.  As he returned to the ring, Pantera nailed him with a dropkick and hit another armbar takedown.

Escobar cut off his momentum with a spinebuster and choked him.  Escobar choked Pantera against the ropes and slammed him.   Escobar used a hip attack in the corner and tossed Pantera Jr. over with a belly to belly overhead suplex.    Pantera made a comeback and rebounded off the turnbuckles with a bodypress but was rudely smashed down with a lariat.

Escobar nailed a big slam and scored the pin.

Your winner, “Papa Esco” Raul Escobar!

Good big man vs. little man bout.  Pantera Jr. looked good as the smaller babyface.  Escobar had a nice intensity to his work.  He billed himself as the Bully from the Bodega, which I thought was great.

Escobar grabbed a ring attendant trying to help out Pantera and killed him with a chokeslam.  He cut a promo saying it's time everyone found out this is his promotion and everyone has to come through him.  He promised to burn the promotion to the ground and said there was nothing anyone could do about it.  He said they could take Pantera when he decided they could.  He said ht was going to take everything from everyone.

Robert Thompson, the head trainer for the promotion, into the ring for Escobar to challenge him but Escobar walked off.  The announcers said Escobar had put the entire promotion on notice.

PWR Junior Heavyweight Champion Vapor (with Lucious Norton) vs. “Superstar” Jake Atlas

The announcers said Atlas had an updated version of the DDT he planned to debut tonight.  Vapor was the heel.  They went back and forth with some nice lucha action early on.   Atlas caught him with a savate kick and sent Vapor to the floor.  Atlas nailed a springboard dropkick off the turnbuckles, sending him to the floor.

Atlas nailed a springboard clothesline into the ring for a two count.  Sparky Ballard, the referee, was counting slow, playing subtle heel.   Atlas maintained control and whipped Vapor into the corner.  Vapor bounced out and ducked Atlas’ clothesline, clubbing him from behind.  Vapor followed up with a standing delayed suplex for a two count.

Vapor controlled Atlas and scored several two counts.  Atlas came back with a discus forearm.  He nailed a big kneelift.  He dove into the ring for a tornado DDT, but Vapor turned it into a spinning sideslam.   Vapor locked in a one-legged Boston Crab.    Atlas made his way to the ropes.  They battled to the apron outside, where Vapor was knocked off to the floor.  Atlas hit an awesome moonsault to the floor.

They battled back into the ring with Atlas controlling the action.  He nailed several clotheslines.   He nailed a backflip into a cutter.  He was a little off on the move, but the actual move looked fluid and would have been awesome if they weren’t one step farther than they needed to be. Vapor drilled Atlas with a right hand and nailed him with a powerbomb, but Atlas got his shoulder up.

Vapor continued beating down Atlas with right hands.   Atlas made a comeback but was caught with a fisherman’s suplex.  Vapor pulled him up and nailed another.   Atlas made another comeback and hit a flip off the top into a DDT, but Lucius Norton put Vapor’s leg on the ropes.

Atlas went after Ballard who put on glasses to say, literally, “You wouldn’t hit a man with glasses” then shoved Atlas backwards into Vapor, who nailed several back suplexes and scored the pin.

Your winner and still PWR Junior Heavyweight champion, Vapor!

Really good back and forth match, to the point the heel referee bit wasn’t even needed.  Atlas had some explosive maneuvers and looked good as the babyface fighting from underneath.  This was the first time I had seen him, and I was completely impressed.  Vapor was excellent in his role.

They are returning to San Francisco on 3/10.

ELIMINATION BOUT, WINNERS TO BE TOP CONTENDERS TO PWR TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: The Border Patrol (JR Kratos & Colt Stevens) vs. Marcus Lewis & Jacob Fatu vs. Jungle Boy & El Prostipiropgolfo vs. Arkady Federov & El Dinamita

Stevens cut a promo saying that some things change over a decade but some things remain the same, pointing out all "the illegals" in the crowd.  Lots of heat for that.

Fatu is the son of The Tonga Kid aka Tama.

Lewis, who they noted graduated from this school, started off with Stevens, looking strong early, including a nice dropkick.   El Prostipiropgolfo tagged in and faced off with Lewis.  Dinamita blindtagged himself in, forcing Lewis to leave the ring.   El Prostipiropgolfo swiveled his hips, leaving himself open for Dinamita to attack him with chops and a rana.  They went back and forth.  Jungle Boy tagged in and nailed a basement dropkick.  He followed up with an enziguiri, scoring a two count.

Federov tagged in and stomped away at Jungle Boy.  The crowd chanted for Jungle Boy, trying to get him to rally back.   Federov nailed a headbutt.  He went for a sideslam but it was converted into a side headlock takedown by Jungle Boy.  They went back and forth until Federov drove Jungle Boy’s spine into the mat for a two count.  Stevens tagged back in and wiped out Jungle Boy with a dropkick.

Kratos tagged in and muscled over Jungle Boy, controlling him.  The Border Patrol caught him in their corner and tagged in and out, beating down Jungle Boy.  They beat him down for a long time, slowing down the pace of the match.  Steven drilled him with an elbowdrop.  Kratos hit a big Beel toss across the ring, allowing Fatu to tag himself in.

Fatu and Kratos faced off.  Federov nailed him from behind, allowing Kratos to drill him with a running shoulderblock.  Fatu kicked out of a pinfall attempt and faced off with Kratos.   Fatu was drilled with a big shot to the face, which he sold as if he was struck with a bat.   He was worked over in the Patrol’s corner but tried to fight his way out.  Kratos sent him into the corner and nailed a big leaping forearm.  Kratos nailed Fatu’s partner Marcus Lewis off the apron with a cheap shot.

Kratos followed up by stomping the back of Fatu’s head as he was draped over the bottom rope.  Dinamita tagged in and continued working over Fatu, who fired up and dared him to keep the assault going.  Dinamita nailed a spinebuster for a two count.  Fatu finally made the tag to Lewis, who unfortunately was quickly overwhelmed by Federov.

Lewis made a comeback and the crowd got behind him big-time as he nailed several comeback strikes and kicks on Federov.  Lewis went for a dive over the top but was caught on the floor.    This set up a series of insane dives with everyone hitting give ones to the floor.  Fatu even whipped out the reverse flip that Tony Nese always whips out, which looked impressive as hell.  The last person left was JR Kratos, who went for a dive but Fatu slipped in and nailed a superkick.   He slammed Kratos.

Lewis went to the top rope and came off with a 450 splash but Kratos pulled his knees up.  Fatu missed a moonsault.  Kratos began whipping out all sorts of big power moves.  Kratos went for a tombstone but Fatu superkicked him.  The referee counted too slow.  Lewis powered the much larger Kratos up on his back but Kratos nailed him from behind.  The Border Patrol nailed the Border Toss off the top and pinned him.

Fatu and Lewis have been eliminated.

The Border Patrol backed off, watching Federov and Dinamita work over Jungle Boy and El Prostipiropgolfo.   Jungle Boy whipped out an evil looking reverse rana that snapped Federov on the top of his head.  El Prostipiropgolfo nailed a double stomp off the top and scored the pin.

Dinamita and Federov were eliminated.

Kratos took control on Prostipiropgolfo, wearing him down with a chinlock.   The Border Patron methodically worked over Prostipiropgolfo.    It was obvious Ballard was again playing heel referee.   Prostipiropgolfo fought back and finally made the tag to Jungle Boy.  He fired away on Steele but Kratos slammed him.

The battle went back and forth until Jungle Boy scored the pin on Steele.

Your winners and new number one contenders, Jungle Boy & El Prostipiropgolfo!

Another really damn entertaining match.  Really good stuff from bell to bell.

They announced Jushin Liger and Rocky Romero will be in action on 3/10 in San Fran.
