THE FORMER EMMA DEBUTS, YOUNG BUCKS VS. BEST FRIENDS, LETHAL VS. GRESHAM CLASSIC, KINGDOM VS. BULLET CLUB & MORE: COMPLETE ROH 'HONOR REIGNS SUPREME' COVERAGE FROM CONCORD, NC

By Mike Johnson on 2018-02-09 22:30:00

Cody Rhodes & Adam Page & Marty Scurll vs. The Kingdom.

The two sides faced off on the floor with chairs as they jawjacked with each other.  Scurll and Vinnie Marseglia went back and forth.  Scurll got shoulderblocked down and Vinnie mocked his arms flapping.  Scurll grabbed his umbrella and hit the ring but Vinnie brandished his axe.   The other referee took the axe to the back.  O'Ryan and Page tagged in and locked up.  Page shoved him down to the mat and tossed him into the corner, chopping away.  Taven tagged in, as did Cody.  Taven immediately powdered to the floor to break any momentum.

The match broke down into chaos with a series of dives, culminating with Rhodes hitting a springboard dive and Page nailing a moonsault off the top to the floor.   Back in the ring, The Kingdom took control.  Marseglia nailed a side effect on Page.  They worked him over but Scurll broke up a pinfall attempt.  There was lots of back and forth action, too much to recount in play by play.  Taven rolled through a sunset flip attempt by Scurll and drilled him with a nasty looking knee.  The Kingdom tried to triple-team Scurll but he pulled his knees up when Marseglia came off the ropes.

Rhodes tried to make the hot tag and finally got it, cleaning house on Taven.  Rhodes snapped him with a powerslam.   Rhodes nailed a Dragon suplex for a two count.  Page nailed the running shooting star press fora two count.   Rhodes tossed Marseglia over the railing into the crowd.  O'Ryan caught him with a big right hand.  Scurll laid him out but was caught with a bicycle kick by Vinnie.  Page lariated him, but was nailed by Taven.  Cody nailed Taven and cinched in the American Deathlock.  Taven made it to the ropes.

Brandi Rhodes got involved, arguing with O'Ryan and ended up tossed out of ringside.  Everyone began hitting big moves on the other.   Rhodes charged Taven who drilled him with a right hand while wearing the stolen ROH ring and KO'd Rhodes, pinning him.

Your winners, The Kingdom!

Way too chaotic to recap everything but it was all action and a lot of fun.  The Kingdom getting the win was the right call here as they need someone for Bullet Club to chase and get revenge on.

The Young Bucks vs. The Best Friends

Lots of shenanigans early.  The Bucks worked over The Best Friends and cleared the ring.     The Bucks nailed stereo tope suicides to the outside.   Chucky whipped Nick Jackson into the guard rail.  Matt Jackson attacked him but Trent got involved.  Nick was whipped again into the guard rail.   The Best Friends began working over Matt Jackson.  Beretta came off the ropes with a double stomp to the back as Taylor held him in place.  They slowed the match down and continued working over Jackson's back.

Matt tried to fire back but was caught with a running knee to the mid-section.    The beating continued until Nick finally made the hot tag and began whipping out superkicks and hot moves for all.  Jackson nailed a bulldog on one while clotheslining the other Best Friend.  The Bucks went to do the powerbomb/kick combination but Matt Jackson's back gave way.  Nick tagged back in and hit a high cross bodyblock on Beretta for a two count.  Nick nailed a springboard off the buckles and dropkicked Taylor off the apron, then nailed Beretta.  Nick nailed a moonsault to the floor on Taylor.

Matt Jackson returned to the ring and went for a move but Beretta reversed.  Beretta nailed a backcracker on Jackson.   He nailed a superplex on Nick, setting up a Taylor doublestomp.   The Bucks took control.  Matt Jackson tagged in and gingerly got into the ring like he was Macho Man kneedrop in TNA.    The Best Friends acted as if they had control but Matt tricked them into butting heads.  Matt went for a springboard but his back gave way.  Jackson's selling here was great.  Beretta went to the ropes but Jackson snapped and grabbed his legs, snapping him backwards into the buckle.  Nick superkicked him on the floor and tossed him back into the ring.

Matt draped him across the ropes and Nick hit a swanton across the back for a two count.    Matt continued working over Beretta.  He went to the ropes but Beretta nailed a rana.  Matt rolled through for a sunset flip attempt but was nailed and turned over into a Sharpshooter.  Jackson nailed a superkick for a two count.  Nick locked one at the same time on Taylor and we had dueling Sharpshooters.  They were broken up and the referee restored order.

Nick and Taylor battled in the center of the right with punches and strikes.   Nick nailed a big knee strike in the corner but Beretta caught him with a rana.   Beretta attacked Matt Jackson's lower back.   Beretta nailed a piledriver on the apron outside.  Beretta went for the Dudebuster on the floor on Matt but Nick charged with a kick.  Matt turned it into a Code Red on the floor.  Nick Jackson drilled Taylor for a two count.    The battle continued until Jackson nailed a spear and superkicked Taylor.  Beretta tagged in and rolled up Matt for a two count.  Beretta got involved but ate a superkick.    The Bucks capitalized and hit the Meltzer Driver for the pin.

Your winners, The Young Bucks!

Really good main event with the Bucks' selling being the focal point by taking them into a place where they were the underdogs and had to fight their way out the match.  This was way different from the usual superkick/spotfest that people expect from the Bucks and made all the big moves and the superkicks mean so much more because it was as if the Bucks had to earn each one.  The Best Friends' offense really shined here as well.

ROH had a really, really strong night that served as a great preview for the Honorclub service.  I watched via the Fite App and I never had one stream or one second that pixelized.   For me, the stream was absolutely perfect.    I thought Lethal vs. Gresham was easily the best thing on the show, but I am a sucker for that sort of physicality based storytelling.

Overall, a fun night of action.
