BRISCOES VS. BULLET CLUB AND MORE: COMPLETE NJPW/ROH HONOR RISING 2017 NIGHT ONE COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2017-02-26 07:12:00

Main event time!

Jay and Mark Briscoe vs. ROH champion Adam Cole & Kenny Omega.

Cole and Mark Brisco started out with Cole playing to the crowd yelling "Adam Cole BAYBAY!" over and over.  The crowd at Korakuen loved this.  Cole stalled a bit, then re-entered the ring, saying "No more games."  But, instead of locking up, he tagged in Omega.  The crowd went nuts for this, changing Omega's name before he even tagged in.

Omega and Mark locked up.  Briscoe grabbed a side headlock and worked over Omega.  Omega sent him into the ropees but was shoulderblocked down when Mark rolled through him.  Omega backed him up into the corner.  He and Briscoe kept evading the other until Omega flipped him over with a nice standing rana.   Cole tagged back in and worked over Briscoe with shots to the back and neck.  He rammed Mark into the corner.  Omega tagged back in and set up for a suplex, snapping him over as Cole yelled "Adam Cole BAYBAY!"  That was hilarious.

Jay was able to tag in and the Brisoces worked over Omega with a pair of sick clotheslines in the corner, followed by a big knee to the face by Jay.  Mark nailed a big kick to the outside on Omega.    The Briscoes worked over The Bullet Club on the floor.   Mark slammed Omega into the guard rail.     Everyone brawled all over ringside.

Jay teased a Jay-Driller on the floor but Cole snapped him with a superkick.  Omega hit a nice moonsault off the guard rail to the Briscoes on the floor.  Cole teased doing a dive but instead showboated on the apron.  Back in the ring, Omega worked over Jay Briscoe.   Briscoe tried to mount a comeback but Cole nailed him from the outside as he rebounded.  Jay nailed him but was caught with a back suplex by Omega.  Jay went to the floor, where Omega nailed a dive over the top.  Omega came up looking as if he nailed his arm hard.

Omega went for a springboard into the ring but was caught and nailed with death valley driver.  Jay went to make the tag but Omega pulled Mark off the apron, preventing that from happening.  Omega worked over Briscoe, who fired back with a series of rights.  Cole tried to get involved but was wiped out with a forearm.  Mark finally got the tag and cleaned house, nailing some big suplexes on Omega and Cole.

Briscoe nailed a series of elbows and nailed a fisherman's buster variation on Cole for a two count.  Mark nailed a death valley driver and nailed Omega, then went to the top, only to be cut off by Cole.  Cole was nailed back into the ring.  Omega helped Cole, allowing him to nail Mark with a superkick for a two count.  Jay tagged in and missed a kick but was caught with a nasty looking dropkick as Cole rebounded off the ropes.  Jay snapped him with a neckbreaker for a two count.

Briscoe went for the Jay Driller but was driven back into the corner.  Cole nailed a series of superkicks and tagged in Omega.  He picked up Briscoe for a gut wrench suplex but Jay fought his way out and they battled back and forth with hard chops.  Omega evaded him and nailed a chop block as well as a leaping legdrop across the back of the neck for a two count.

Omega cinched him for a Dragon suplex but Briscoe fought his way out.  Omega drilled him in the knee to the mid-section as he rebounded off the ropes.  Omega told him that he can't escape and nailed a rolling Samoan Drop, then went for a moonsault but Jay pulled his knee up and drilled Omega with a big lariat.  Cole and Mark Briscoe tagged in and fired back and forth with punches and chops.

Everyone fired back and forth with big moves.  Mark nailed a mule kick on Cole and went for a superplex but Cole shoved him off and nailed a Canadian Destroyer off the ropes for a close two count.  Cole set up Mark in the corner and ascended to the top rope.  Cole set up for a move but Jay interceded and attacked him, setting up for his own superplex on Cole.   Jay snapped off and nailed it.  Mark came off the top with the froggy elbow but Omega broke up the pinfall at the last second.

The Briscoes set up for The Doomsday device but were stopped.  Jay hit an insane dive to the outside on Omega and Cole, drilling Omega hard backwards into the guard rail.  They set up again for the Doomsday Device on Cole but Omega crotched Jay on the top.  Omega went for the one-winged angel but Mark broke free.  They went for the Doomsday Device but Omega caught Jay and nailed a powerslam out of it.  Cole and Omega cleaned house with shining wizards and knee triggers.  Cole nailed the Last Shot on Mark and scored the pin.

Your winners, ROH champion Adam Cole and Kenny Omega!

Another great, hard hitting match.  Just an excellent showing from all four athletes here.

Omega took the mic and said he's not going anywhere.  He declared he was back.  Omega said 2017 would be his year, Bullet Club's year and The Elites' year.  He said he would take over Japan and would take over America when Cole took the mic away.

Cole said that was a great speech and he knows that everyone is elated to have Kenny back in New Japan.  Cole said that he forgot to mention the most important thing - that Adam Cole is in New Japan, that Cole is the first three-time ROH champion.  He said Kenny is going to have a great year but the year that Adam Cole is going to have is what he should be talking about.  Cole declared "Adam Cole, Baybay!"

Kenny said that was fine but he's in Japan and no one knows what he's saying.  The crowd laughed at that.  Omega told the crowd thank you and goodnight.

They teased there might be an issue but shook hands.

Easily a way better show than last year's Honor Rising Night One.
