LAS VEGAS GETS A HELL OF A SHOW: COMPLETE WWE MONEY IN THE BANK COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-06-19 20:30:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing coverage of the 2016 WWE Money in the Bank PPV from Las Vegas, Nevada!

KICKOFF SHOW

They had some audio issues in the first minute of the broadcast.  The panel is comprised of Renee Young, Lita (replacing the suspended Jerry Lawler), Corey Graves and Booker T.  Graves called that Seth Rollins would win the WWE World Heavyweight championship back tonight.

Tom Phillips will have an Twitter Q&A with Natalya and Becky Lynch during the Kickoff Show.

They pushed that it was a Wrestlemania quality PPV tonight.

They aired a video feature on AJ Styles vs. John Cena.

They showed Seth Rollins arriving at the Arena earlier today.

They discussed the WWE Tag Team championship bout.

They played a video feature on the Tyler Breeze & Fandango vs. Goldust & R-Truth.

Tyler Breeze & Fandango vs. Goldust & R-Truth.

Tyler and Fandango are still all "burnt" with their skin peeling from being trapped in the tanning machine by Truth and Goldust.  So, this is going to be all played for laughs at their expense.  They were all moving pretty gingerly.

Truth and Fandango started out.  They locked up and Fandango was in pain just touching him.  R-Truth allowed him to grab a hammerlock but escaped and unloaded on him.  He was in a ton of pain.  Even tagging out to Breeze hurt Fandango and his partner.  Truth grabbed Breeze with am armbar and tagged in Goldust.  They cleaned house as Breeze was hurting bad.

Breeze cut off Goldust with a kick but was quickly overwhelmed by Goldust with chops in the corner.  Fandango was tagged in and slapped his raw back to hurt him, then peppered him with punches. Breeze and Fandango got control of Truth but even hitting offensive maneuvers was bothering them.  Fandango used a stepover toehold but Truth nailed him to break it.

Truth nailed a leg lariat and made the hot tag to Goldust.  Goldust chopped away, which gave Manallo the chance to reference Misawa and Kobashi.  Fandango tried to interfere but was sent into Breeze.  Goldust scored the pin with a twisting neckbreaker.

Your winners, Goldust & R-Truth!

Nothing here beyond comedy silliness.

Backstage, Sami Zayn tried to speak with Cesaro, but he was getting in the zone while listening on headphones.  He told Zayn he didn't want to talk about it.  The idea was that everyone in the match were underrated talents but tonight could change that.

They aired a video piece on the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

They showed WWE World Heavyweight champion Roman Reigns arriving earlier today.

They held the Twitter Q&A with Becky Lynch and Natalya.  The first question was why they work so well as a team.  Natalya said that she's known Lynch for over a decade.  Lynch said Natty was her heart and kept her blood pumping.  They were asked wrestlers they looked up to growing up.  Lynch said Dynamite Kid, Bret Hart.  Natty said Bret, Shawn Michaels and Randy Savage.  WOW, no mention of her own dad!  Ouch!  They were asked about Charlotte's comments about Ric Flair.  Becky said that Charlotte turns on everyone.  Natty said revenge is a dish best served cold.

The Dudley Boyz vs. The Lucha Dragons

Bubba gave Kalisto a lot of grief early, putting the mouth on him.  He mocked Kalisto and then tagged in D-Von.  They trapped Kalisto in the corner but he slipped out without any damage.  D-Von controlled him but was nailed with a series of forearms and hit with a monkey flip.  Sin Cara tagged in and hit a springboard into a cross body for a two count.  The Lucha Dragons nailed a pair of stereo tope con hilos to the floor.  That was cool.  When they returned to the ring, The Dudleys cut them off.

When they returned from a WWE Network commercial, Bubba was working over Sin Cara's leg.  D-Von choked Sin Cara against the ropes.  Cara was drilled with a big elbow and locked in a side chinlock.   D-Von drilled him with a back flying elbow and an uppercut.  Bubba tagged in and nailed a big suplex for a close two count.

Bubba began trashing Cara verbally and slapped him in the back of the head.   He mocked the "Lucha" chant and was dropkicked for his transgressions.   Kalisto got the hot tag and nailed a springboard into a seated senton.  He nailed a spinning corkscrew headbutt on D-Von.  He nailed another seated senton but Bubba broke up the pinfall.

Bubba and D-Von worked over Kalisto in the corner.  They nailed the Doomsday Device but Cara made the save, breaking the pinfall.  D-Von went for a clothesline but Kalisto ducked and Bubba was nailed.  Mauro yelled "Malfunction at the Junction."  I love this guy.  Kalisto rolled him up for a two count.  The Dudleys went for 3D but Kalisto escaped and nailed the Salina del Sol.  Cara followed up with a swanton and they scored the pin on Bubba.

Your winners, The Lucha Dragons!

Good back and forth match with solid action all the way around.  I would have liked to have seen them get some more time to really let the Dudleys work over Cara to get the heat on him, but this was good stuff.

They aired a video piece on Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns.

WWE MONEY IN THE BANK 2016

They played up the Vegas connection in the opening video package.  It was a really good package.

WWE Tag Team champions The New Day vs. The Club vs. The Vaudevillains vs. Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady.

Enzo did some good Vegas-related lines during their entrance and pre-match promo.  They plugged all the international announcing teams before the bell.  New Day did a promo comparing Enzo and Cass to a broke-down Han Solo and a hairless Chewbacca.  They referred to the Vaudevillains to the Monopoly Man.  They were going to send Anderson and Gallows back to Japan with their bald heads and their Booty-Os.  They claimed to be "The Elite" team, a reference to New Japan's Elite - The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.

The first team to get the win gets the championship.

Kingston and Anderson starting out.  Kingston nailed a leapfrog and nailed a back elbow as Anderson rebounded.  Gallows tagged in and worked over Kingston with body shots.  The Club tried to double team Kofi but he used the ropes to catch Gallows with a kick.  Enzo got involved and nailed a dropkick on his own.  They dispatched The Club and The Vaudevillains.  Kofi nailed Enzo, who seemed surprised by that.  They began going back and forth and had some nice reversals and counters.

Cass and Big E tagged in, so it was the power guys facing off.  Before anything could happen, Aiden English tagged himself in.  Big E worked him over and nailed a big splash on the apron outside.  Everyone faced off in the ring and all eight began brawling.  The crowd liked that.  The Vaudevillains began working over Kingston and looked good in doing so.

Kingston stopped Aiden with a jawbreaker.  Karl Anderson tagged in and he and Kofi nailed a double clothesline.  Enzo and English tagged in.  Enzo tagged him with right hands and went to rebound off the ropes but Gallows pulled it down, so Amore crashed and burned to the floor.  Gallows tagged in and was waiting for Enzo when he returned to the ring, drilling him with a big kick.   He went for an over the shoulder powerslam but Enzo turned it into a tornado DDT.  Cass tagged in and slammed everyone before backdropping E over the top to the floor.  He nailed the Empire Elbow on Anderson.  He launched Enzo over the top into everyone.

Cass nailed a big boot on Anderson.  They nailed the Rocket Launcher but Gallows pulled Enzo out.  Cass took out Gallows.  Gotch went to nail Enzo but Kofi tagged in.  He went for Trouble in Paradise but Enzo and he were off the page and it went to hell.  He kicked Enzo and went for it on Gotch.  Gotch ducked and they nailed the Whirling Derbish for a two count but it was broken up.  E speared Gotch off the apron to the floor.  Everyone began hitting big moves.  The Club wiped out New Day and hit The Magic Killer on English.  E hit the ring and went for a Big Ending but someone was out of position and time stood still.  Cass hit the ring and nailed a big boot on Gallows, sending him to the floor.  Kofi and E hit a double team Big Ending/DDT off the top combo for the pin.

Your winners and still WWE Tag Team champions, The New Day!

A lot of this was very good but with so many talents involved, it was obvious when timing was off and that happened a few times.  Still a pretty entertaining opening match.

Backstage, Tom Phillips was interviewing Kevin Owens.  Chris Jericho and Alberto Del Rio both showed up.  Owens knocked them for saying and doing the same thing while he gets things done.  It was a good way to show that none of the villains in the bout were on the same page going into the Ladder Match.  Good segment.
