ICW ON DEMAND UPDATE

By Jonathan Armak on 2016-02-04 13:37:00

ICW has been running podcasts for the last year or so via SoundCloud, however they had been on hiatus since Fear and Loathing. A few days ago they posted a photo with a couch, camera, and video screen with the caption:

“Whatever could be happening here?”

The answer was revealed moments ago, via ICW On Demand they posted their first video podcast featuring the new ICW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Renfrew. It is an excellent interview, very honest, and shows just how great Renfrew is going to be as not only the champion, but as an ambassador for the brand going forward. He addresses the shoot promo he cut on Grado leading to the Square Go two weeks ago, his thoughts on the importance of the championship, and the Fighting Spirit Magazine article that credited Grado as the sole reason for the company’s ability to sell out the SECC for Fear and Loathing. Go out of your way to check this out. It is a testament to how quickly ICW is coming up in both production, and presentation, and as well as Renfrew’s very intense interview. For those not subscribed to ICW’s On Demand service (and I don’t understand why you wouldn’t be), the podcast will be available in a few days via Sound Cloud at the link provided below. At that link you can listen to previous Podcasts such as an interview with Drew Galloway, a previous (and another excellent) one with Chris Renfrew, and many more.

A few other recent additions to On Demand include a new episode of Total Recall, a series that has competitors from a match sit down and provide commentary while watching the match back. This episode covers Noam Dar vs. Kenny Williams for the Zero-G Championship from Space Baws last year featuring a run in from none other than jedi master Yoda (you read that correctly).

There’s a new episode of “Have I Got Chairshots For You”, a Who’s Line is It Anyways type of comedy show in which two teams consisting of ICW wrestlers go head to head in a number of different situational comedy sketches, hosted by the voice of ICW, and a comedian by trade Billy Kirkwood. This episode features the team of Red Lightning and the Wee Man against Chris Renfrew and Sha Samuels. It’s a very funny show, and certainly unique in wrestling. We get to see a completely different side of Sha Samuels here, one that made me laugh pretty hard.

Finally, tomorrow the first episode of Friday Night Fight Club from the 100th show that was taped last Sunday night will be available for streaming. PWInsider provided spoilers, and will be providing detailed coverage tomorrow.

This is a BIG time for ICW as they continue to expand their On Demand network, and overall presence in the wrestling world. They are doing things equivalent to the WWE in terms of creating original programming for their network, which for an independent company based in the U.K., is quite an accomplishment to be proud of, and a testament that the brand is much bigger than one would assume on the surface. Their production value is bar none compared to any independent we see in America, (I do not consider ROH an independent promotion) and it will be interesting to see just how much the On Demand service will grow over the course of the year. If you’re looking for an alternative, not only is it here ready for you, it’s providing original content outside the realm of just the in ring product.
