RUSSOING (A.K.A. TURNING PEOPLE FOR NO REAL REASON), JAMES STORM IN NXT, GFW VS. ROH IN NEW JAPAN’S EYES AND MORE

How can WWE allow James Storm to wrestle on NXT without signing a contract? He shocked everyone when he showed up and now he's back on TNA. Do you think Triple H and/or Vince, whoever ok'd it, messed up here? I feel like Storm just got some more viewers to go watch him on Impact now because of his WWE stint. Also, follow up question to that, do you think WWE would let James Storm come back now and wrestle without signing a contract?

No one messed up at all! WWE doesn’t get hurt one iota by having Storm work an NXT match. It’s not like they put the Title on him or anything. And from a perception standpoint, one could definitely look at it like they gave him a tryout and decided not to sign him.

Now that the WWE title will be up for grabs in the Royal Rumble match, what do you think about having it come down to Reigns, the Usos, and whichever heel they want to put the belt on only to have the Usos turn on Reigns and align with the Authority and/or the League of Nations? Depending on how far Seth Rollins is in his recovery, it could be a way for him to come back as a face to help Reigns get revenge and make things right with his former teammates.

That sounds like Vince Russo booking to me, a turn that is done for no logical reason, with no build at all, just to make you yell “swerve!” I don’t think anyone involved would get anything positive out of that.

If all the rumors are true and Nakamura is WWE bound, how the heck does he get portrayed on TV? I can't envision any scenario that would work given WWE's history of using Japanese wrestlers.

That is an excellent question. Had Hideo Itami not gotten hurt in NXT, maybe we would have an idea as to whether Vince McMahon has turned the corner and realized that Japanese wrestlers don’t have to be comedy guys. Nakamura is amazing and if he comes into WWE, I sure as hell hope they use him to the full extent of his abilities.

Does it look to you like Ring of Honor's close involvement with New Japan has undercut the Global Force business plan? I was just thinking how closely Jarrett was involved with WrestleKingdom one year ago. This year they are totally out. If this is the case, did ROH do it, at least partially for that reason?

I honestly don’t know what Global Force’s plan is, other than to be in business and run when they can. ROH, on the other hand, runs regularly and has a TV show that airs every week. It makes far more sense for New Japan to work with them as they run a similar kind of product and have a roster that works regularly. Until GFW gets to that point, they don’t have what ROH does to offer New Japan.

Is Y2J back on full time basis?

At this time, no. He is still doing his part time thing.
