WHATEVER HAPPENED TO SANDOW, THE ORIGINAL LEAGUE OF NATIONS PLAN AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-01-01 10:00:00

This has been bugging me for awhile and watching the Slammy's it reminded me of it. I know it's probably the same old "it's Vince's decision" but after watching highlights of Damien Mizdow I need to ask. What he hell happened? The guy was the highlight of WWE for me when he was teaming with Miz. Saw people tweeting Halloween costumes of Miz and Mizdow last year. Was there any backstage heat we don't know about or is creative just plain stupid?

I think Sandow was just a victim of bad timing and bad creative. His break away from Miz was badly conceived and executed and he was quickly turned into Macho Mandow and teamed with Curtis Axel who was doing the Hulk Hogan homage. When the real Hogan ended up in trouble, that was the end of that team and Sandow sat in purgatory for a long time. I have no idea why someone with his height, work and style is not utilized but I hope that changes in 2016.

On Raw, 12/28, when John Cena was in the ring, a girl in the front row kept holding up a sign reading something like “John Cena - I Hope You See Me.” I was curious – did he see and acknowledge her support at some point?

I would hope so, but have no idea.

Alberto Del Rio seemed like he was forced into the League of Nations at the last second. I understand Kevin Owens might have been the first choice? If so, what happened?

Owens was indeed the original plan, but as it turned out, he and his son (who was on the road with him) took extremely ill and Owens was pulled off the show that week.

Does CZW make a profit?

I would think depending on the month, it does. It's not easy to run an independent wrestling promotion.

Is it just me or Scott Steiner recently got noticeably smaller? I don't think that it can be explained by his age, he's not that old, he's just 53. For example, Hogan and even Vince seemed bigger when they were older than this.

The difference is they were still trying to compete and appear in pro wrestling full-time. I get the impression Steiner has partially moved on, as he's opening a restaurant, so he's probably working out more for health and less for size at this point.
