The show opens with HHH in the ring. He said that Sunday night he got his ass kicked but there is no way he wasn’t going to be here. You wanted it, you got it, your brand. “London, England, scream with me, ‘WE ARE NXT’.” Frankly he didn’t even have to explain being there to me, but I am glad he did. NXT TAKEOVER IS ON FOLKS!
It’s video recap time.
The arena is sold out and looks awesome on TV. We are opening up with Asuka vs. Emma.
Asuka came out first, to a good pop. Emma was out next, with Dana Brooke accompanying her. Right off the bate the crowd chants, “Asuka’s gonna kill you”. … They went back and forth, each trading control. The fans were singing a soccer song. Then they canted a this is wrestling chant as Emma was in control for five minutes or so. Asuka was selling while Dana was yelling at her on the floor. … Asuka tried to turn it around but got slapped the face. Then, Asuka jumped to the the second rope and plastered Emma with a dropkick. Emma got up first but ran into a dropkick. Asuka then went to work with kicks and slaps. Asuka missed a kick and Emma rolled her up for a two. Asuka came back with a flying butt to the face for two. Emma managed to wrap up Asuka in the ropes and then did a double arm suplex for a two count. Asuka fought out by Emma rubbed her face in the mat but got caught in an Ankle Lock in the middle of the ring. She got out and Asuka planted her with a German, then got a two after a shot to the jaw. The crowd was chanting for Asuka as she put on the Asuka Lock. In fighting out, Emma and Asuka bumped the ref. While Asuka checked on him, Dana threw a chain to Emma. Asuka took it off of her as the refs came to. While he was giving her static about it, Emma went to roll her up. Asuka got the Asuka Lock on. Emma tapped out but Dana was in the ring and distracted by the ref. Asuka didn’t know and let her out. Asuka then saw Dana in the ring and as the ref tossed her, Emma got the chain. She didn’t get a chance to use it though as Asuka kicked her in the face and rolled her up for the pin. Good, solid match to start the show.
The legendary Johnny Saint was shown at ringside.
Dash and Dawson vs. Enzo and Cass for the NXT Tag Titles is up next.
Enzo and Cass got a huge pop just for their music playing! As soon as they came out, a “How You Doin’” chant started. They knew every word of Enzo’s opening speech and said it in unison. Enzo and Cass cut a promo before the match. They are going to walk out champions today. The fans were totally into it. Then Dash and Dawson’s music hit, and boos rained out.
The crowd chanted, "How you doin'" as the bell rang.
Enzo has a Union Jack on his tights. The crowd is singing, “Go…Enzo Amore!” as he started for his team. Dash and Dawson took turns working him over early but he came back and tagged in Cass. The teams traded control early. … First big spot of the match came with Air Enzo onto the floor on the champs. The champs managed to throw Enzo to the floor but he got back in the ring before the count but they went to work on him. The champs are doing a great job of working as old school tag team specialists. I hope WWE can bring back the art of tag team wrestling. They get it in NXT. … Enzo kept selling and as he was about to take Cass the champs broke it up. They gave a Gordbuster to Enzo but only got a two. They put Enzo on the top rope but he jumped off with a DDT and tagged Cass, who went to work on Dawson. He got a two with a Sidewalk Slam but Dash broke it up. Cass tossed him out but Dawson then attacked the knee from behind. Dash put him in in a reversed Figure Four. Enzo came in but Dawson hit him with a killer Clothesline. Cass finally made the rope but his knee was hurting. Enzo had Dash pinned after the rocket launcher splash when Dawson pulled Enzo out to break the count. When they got back in, Dawson and Enzo were on the top and Dawson launched Enzo into a Dash face crusher, 1-2-3. The crowd didn’t like the finish, obviously. But it was a really strong tag team match.
They showed Bayley arriving earlier, then went into a Nia Jax promo.
As a side note, and this won’t shock you, the crowd has gone into business for itself. They were singing variations of Beatles songs doing the last match.
