STAMPEDE WRESTLING PULLED FROM WWE NETWORK

By Mike Johnson on 2015-12-07 12:53:13
The four hours of Stampede Wrestling footage that had been added to the WWE Network last week has been removed from the Vault section of the WWE Network.

The belief among those I have spoken to is that there may have been a rights issue regarding the Stampede material featuring WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart. While WWE owns the Stampede library, Bret had the rights to his matches transferred to him personally prior to the passing of his parents, who would have owned the footage. Based on that, if WWE wanted to use that material, they would technically need to license it from Hart himself.

Hart addressed his ownership of that material several years ago while appearing on PWInsiderTV. You can check out that interview, filmed in December 2012 below:

There was at least one Bret Hart bout up on the material that had been uploaded. If and when the Stampede section returns, we will update and note if the Bret Hart material is still there.
