MORE NOTES FROM LAST NIGHT'S RING OF HONOR TAPING IN NASHVILLE, TN

By Jason Clinard on 2015-11-21 17:45:22

I started off just wanting to pass along some notes from the ROH show last night in Nashville. You already have the results posted, so I won't rehash that.

This was my first ROH show, and I loved their production. I sat in the back row to the left of the ring, and you would normally equate that with not being the best seat in the house. Thing is, the way the Fairgrounds is built, and with the setup of their production; back row or not I could have superkicked the people in the front row. Not a bad seat in the house.

I was also impressed with their merchandising. All the shirts, with the exception of the Bullet Club shirts, were just $15. Bullet Club shirts were $25. To compare with NXT that came in October; their shirts were $30 or more. I was able to pick up a fantastic Too Sweet Young Bucks t-shirt for $15, and it was even my favorite color blue. I didn't check out the prices for the rest of the merchandise since I already spent my budget. Would've been cruel and unusual punishment.

There were a couple other stands with different merchandise. There were tons of past and present DVDs. I saw a lot of nice Puroresu DVDs as well as Puroresu shirts. I may be remembering incorrectly, but I believe ROH has a working relationship with NJPW, so that would explain that. There were also signed lamented prints. I noticed a signed Jushin Thunder Liger on top. Some high quality Puroresu masks were there as well.

The crowd was white hot most of the night. I only say 'most of the night',because the only way to describe The Young Bucks v/s The Briscoes was Invisible Flame. It was so hot you couldn't even see the flame. I went into the match knowing it was going to be a sight to behold. It's The Young Bucks and The Briscoes, so that was no surprise. My expectations were already higher than the stratosphere, but they still managed to get shattered. This was definitely the most over match of the night.

In the Shane Taylor/Keith Lee v/s Brutal Bob Evans/Dylan Bostic match was a spot where Keith Lee did a corkscrew plancha. The crowd came unglued for it. Amazing sight.

Speaking of amazing sights; ACH was extraordinary in the ACH/Matt Sydal v/s Roppongi Vice match. This guy is the future. His movement were so fluid it was as if I were witnessing high impact art. He nailed a couple of moves over the top that were executed effortlessly with pristine grace.

I really enjoyed the Jerry Lynn segment. He lives here in the Nashville area, and it was good to see him. He was used very well. Kevin Kelly put him over, spoke of all he has done, all he has been through, sacrificing his body (he recently had neck surgery which has been documented). Kevin Kelly thanked him, and Lynn thanked the fans. Lynn was asked who he thought would win between AJ Styles and Lethal. He spoke about knowing them both 12 years, how they've grown and improved, and was hesitant to pick a winner. This brought out Jay Lethal who had an incredibly enthralling and perfectly executed exchange with Jerry Lynn. I won't go into detail with what was said or happened afterwards, because I am assuming it will air on TV, and it wouldn't do the segment justice to recap.

Ending notes:

The television that was taped tonight will be airing Christmas time. Ring of Honor will be returning to Nashville on Saturday, Feb 6 for The Winter Warriors tour. Except this show will be at The Municipal Auditorium instead of The Fairgrounds. That is a huge upgrade, and I applaud/thank them for believing in the city and crowd enough to make such a big upgrade.

Thanks for your time in reading this. I thought you'd be interested even if you didn't pass it along.
