THE WWE HELL IN A CELL TIP SHEET

By Dave Scherer, Mike Johnson & Richard Trionfo on 2015-10-23 10:21:51

WWE presents Hell In A Cell on Sunday. Here’s our talk on what will happen.

Hell in A Cell: Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar.

Dave: Undertaker is an older, less than part timer. Brock is an in his prime, part timer, at a time when WWE will be without John Cena and probably Randy Orton for the next two months. The finish here is a no-brainer, Lesnar has to go over in this match. I suspect that it’s very competitive, with Taker kept strong for Mania, but he can’t win here. At this point in his career, he has to do the job to the younger talent that is more important to the company. A loss doesn’t hurt Taker at all. But a loss by Lesnar shows that an old guy is better than the younger guy who has run roughshod over the entire roster for the last year plus. That would be the dumbest message WWE ever sent if they did that.

Mike: Unless they have something planned that is really going to come out of left field, Brock Lesnar should win the feud by putting Undertaker down with the F5. I expect this will be a fun but slowly paced brawl where they will use the cage to help tell the story of the match. Paul Heyman, locked out but showing extreme concern for his client, should really accentuate the story here.

Richard: This is being billed as the final match between the two so maybe we get them one more time at Mania so Taker can avenge his loss from two years ago. The 'questionable' finish to their last match should give Lesnar more than enough to motivate him to win the match. While Hell in a Cell is Taker's match, that is what they said about Taker at Mania and look what happened when they met.

Hell in A Cell: Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt.

Dave: WWE will need someone to push at the top while Cena is out and judging from the last few weeks of TV, Reigns will be that guy. That became pretty clear when the company had Ric Flair endorse him on Raw. So, it stands to reason that he will go over here. It is all that makes sense. As much as I like Bray, him winning wouldn’t help him all that much, so Reigns needs to go over here.

Mike: If they intend to have Roman carry things going forward, two things need to happen here. One, Bray Wyatt has to be a vicious, evil heel and has to put Roman into a situation where fans are sympathetic to Reigns. Then, Reigns needs to make a big comeback and hit a major move. I'd love to see them end up on top of the Cell, where Roman can spear him for a big pop. Either way, Reigns needs the win here.

Richard: Reigns should win this match because he hasn't been scorched Earth as much as Bray has been. After their sit down conversation in the ring, maybe they will have a tea party at some point during this match. I wonder if we will see some sort of Family involvement during the match since they are off the show at this point.

WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins vs. Kane: If Kane does not win, he will lose his Director of Operations job.

Dave: This feud is part of the reason that the audience has dropped of late. I love Kane and all he has done for the company in his career, but he is not someone that a lot of people want to see in the main event picture. So, I see Rollins winning, Kane losing his job and Demon Kane returning. I just hope it’s not to continue the feud with Rollins. That needs to die.

Mike:

The feud has gotten nice reactions from fans happy to see the Kane as the Demon again, but beyond that, I don't see any evidence that this has clicked. Rollins needs to win, because he desperately needs to win, period. Let's hope that after Kane loses, it's the start of WWE de-emphasizing authority figures.

Richard: If Kane wins, the reaction in the Staples Center when Orton cashed in against Bryan will sound like Skydome during a Blue Jays playoff game. Rollins needs to win this match. It is a shame that they couldn't have done this match during the Elimination Chamber show so we wouldn't have had to deal with this feud all summer. After what Kane did with the New Day on Smackdown, I hope they have a band play Suit Kane off into the sunset.

WWE United States champion John Cena's Open Challenge.

Dave: This will be one of the most telling things on the show. Cena is taking a break for his outside project, so what will Vince McMahon do? What he SHOULD do is have someone beat Cena and get a rub from it. A loss doesn’t hurt Cena at all but if someone beats him, it could help elevate that talent. One of the major problems with WWE right now is that no one is up at the top of the card other than Cena, Lesnar and Orton. Rollins, even though he is the champion, is clearly under Cena. Wouldn’t it be cool if Rollins came out and destroyed Cena to be the double champion again?

Mike: No sign of Big Show on the card....he's my guess, although Tyler Breeze coming out and getting the win would be the coolest idea ever. Cena should "do the right thing" on the way out.

Richard: There are two ways to look at this match. The first way is the way that Vince would probably look at it: Cena retains, but is injured after and is out for a while but still champion. Then there is the way that everyone else would look at this match: If Cena is going to be gone, why not have someone win convincingly and do something to justify the time away for Cena. I would love to see the man who had so much momentum at the start of the year only to be caught in the vortex of Cena get the chance to beat Cena and send John away. I would give Rusev the opportunity and also bring back Lana to celebrate the victory. If not Rusev, I would love to see Cesaro or even let Owens get another win and be a double champ.

WWE Divas champion Charlotte vs. Nikki Bella.

Dave: The Divas Revolution has been a bust. They could start to change that by turning Charlotte loose and have her definitively beat Bella here, and then move on to a feud with Sasha Banks. I know, I am a dreamer. Charlotte should win here but with the Total Divas connection, I am concerned that she won’t.

Mike: I am 100% with Dave here. I keep waiting for that moment when we see a true change in how the women are portrayed and what they do in the ring, but outside of Sasha vs. Bayley in NXT, it doesn't happen. It's time for them to give Charlotte her moment.

Richard: Charlotte's title reign is starting to look like Paige's and that is not necessarily a good thing. Maybe the opponent is the reason why some people look better in the ring. While it is not the popular opinion, I would put the title back on Nikki. They can even do a screwy finish where Paige thinks she is helping Charlotte only for it to backfire. Then you have Charlotte and Paige feud (with Becky watching because WWE has no idea what to do with her) and then Sasha can be the one to win the title from Nikki.

WWE Tag Team champions The New Day vs. The Dudley Boyz.

Dave: I love the Dudley Boyz but The New Day is fresh and doing a great job right now. They are one of the highlights of Raw. The Duds have gotten a lot of heat on Xavier Woods and their role now is to be elevating veterans. I see New Day retaining.

Mike: If the Dudleys are winning the belts, my gut is it's not happening until they get to a Tables Match. New Day steals another victory here.

Richard: The New Day needs to win to get revenge for the many times that The Dudleys have sent Woods through a table. I think the New Day will either use a table or come close to using one. They can do a multi team match at Survivor Series with each team as 'captains' and then they can end the feud with a Tables Match at TLC.

WWE Intercontinental champion Kevin Owens vs. Ryback.

Dave: It is a shame that Ryback got hurt after winning the IC Title. I would have liked to seen him get more of a chance, but WWE killed it with the Miz/Big Show feud. Owens is at that point where he hasn’t been pushed down the card yet, but he could be. I would book this as a very physical match that Owens wins cleanly. That way, Ryback wouldn’t be hurt and Owens could be booked more strongly.

Mike: Owens retaining has more momentum then Ryback getting the belt back does. That is what should happen here, Owens doesn't something evil and underhanded to retain.

Richard: Kevin vowed to make this pay per view The Kevin Owens Show and I hope that happens. Owens has been so refreshing since debuting in NXT because he uses logic to justify everything. That will continue on Sunday and there will be no secret once Owens retains.

Neville & Dolph Ziggler & Cesaro vs. Rusev & King Barrett & Sheamus (Kickoff Show broadcast)

Dave: The heels have gotten all of the heat so far, so the babyfaced go over here.

Mike:

This could be REALLY good. My guess is Neville gets the win over Barrett with the Red Arrow so they can do a rematch on Raw.

Richard: I just hope the LA crowd does for me what the Dallas crowd did during their Raw warm up match (a USA chant when Ziggler is not wrestling). After what happened on Smackdown, I almost expect to see Tyler Breeze show up and interfere to get Ziggler pinned.
