RAW AS THE LONGEST RUNNING TV SERIES EVER, TNA'S WORLD TITLE SERIES, LITTLE GUIDO & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2015-10-10 10:00:14
For all intent and purposes, WWE RAW is the longest running episodic television show. I stress the word “episodic” because, isn’t The 700 Club the longest-running show on television, even though it’s actually a Christian news/talk show and not necessarily an entertainment show, or an “episodic” show? Am I mixing apples and oranges here, or is this another case of the WWE’s twisted logic as how they see it?

I don't think the 700 Club comes into play when discussion of episodic television is made. That said, there are probably soap operas and even regional wrestling TV that ran as long or had as many episodes of TV series, but they aren't factored in either, because it's WWE promotional hype.

With the number of EVOLVE talents that have signed with NXT, and with Triple H's recent comments regarding the indie promotion, does it give EVOLVE a stronger position in the indie realm talent wise? I am curious if more indie wrestlers would seek to showcase themselves on EVOLVE as a stepping stone to bigger promotions. I've been a big fan of EVOLVE, and there are a lot of new names for the upcoming events, filling in the recent vacancies. It is an exciting time!

Absolutely. Between Triple H's recent comments about the promotion and the fact that so many talents have gone through EVOLVE's doors en route to WWE, you can see why indy wrestlers would put higher premium on working for the company.

Why are some episodes of ECW "Hardcore TV" skipped on the WWE network? Is it due to an issue with master tapes or content?

It could be that WWE hasn't finished preparing the episodes for airing. Before material can go up on the WWE Network, it has to be digitized, color corrected and closed captioned. It could do the episodes in question haven't been completed yet.

Is TNA really doing a 32 person round robin into a 16 man elimination tournament? It seems way too contrived to follow.

It absolutely is something fans will have to pay attention to to follow. I think TNA probably went a little over the top with the concept but to their credit, they are trying to do something different and filmed a lot of material for it with the concept never leaking out. I am curious to see how the tournament goes before I knock it.

I saw in an interview in the Elite section, you mentioned Little Guido's job after wrestling. What is it?

Guido works as a court officer in New York.
