WWE HONORING UNDERTAKER AT WRESTLEMANIA, WHY ARE THERE MORE ECW DVDS, WWE SPLITTING OFF INTO INTERNATIONAL TERRITORIES AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2015-09-19 10:00:00
I recently saw your answer to the question about whose statue should be the next legends statue to go up and i agree Austin would be a great choice, but what are your thoughts if they did a true salute to the Undertaker? Statue? Entrance to HOF? And last match? I figure because of his loyalty he should be given a send off that no one else has been given.

Undertaker is certainly a great choice as well, but as long as he's an active member of the roster, I'd like to see WWE wait on the statue. There's no guarantee this Wrestlemania will indeed be his last match, although I suspect a number of fans believe that it will and that's part of the reason they are making the trip to Dallas.

There were rumors several years ago that WWE was going to split into different territories based on the area of the world they were in (North America, Asia, South America, etc.) and then it all quietly disappeared. What happened? Was there ever anything to it?

While there were a lot of rumors about this at the time, WWE never publicly acknowledged or announced it. That said, there were plans drawn up and at one point, it was something pitched within WWE. At the end of the day, it never took place, possibly because it would have required Vince McMahon to allow himself to have less control over the different areas in order for them to run themselves.

I read that WWE is doing more ECW related DVDs. Why can't they and you just let it die already?

I don't know how I didn't let it die when I had no control over whether it lived or died to begin with. As far as WWE creating more DVDs with that content, they keep doing them because they are selling. That's the bottom line. Personally, I'd like to see them mine and release more from the World Class and AWA libraries. Best of Parade of Champions? The AWA's Greatest Grapplers? Let's go, WWE!

Kurt Angle claims he's leaving TNA and not seeking WWE...ROH?

If Angle is telling us the truth (and hey, you never know what his reasoning for announcing he is leaving TNA is, you have to remember that), he's going to take time off to rest his body. He has long pushed to pursue acting full-time and I really think he'll attempt that. That said, Angle working matches in ROH with AJ Styles, Jay Lethal, Michael Elgin, etc. as a special attraction could be interesting.

I read the Bob Backlund book as you suggested and was wondering if there are any other great books from that era of WWWF to read?

I would check out Tim Hornbaker's "Capitol Revolution" from ECW Press, which pretty much tells the tale of the entire NYC territory from it's origins all the way to Hulk Hogan dropping the legdrop on the Iron Sheik.
