WILL MOTHER NATURE TAKE OUT RAW FOR A SECOND TIME?

By Mike Johnson on 2015-08-28 18:40:46
With Tropical Storm Erika on the move and heading towards Tampa, Florida, the site of Monday's Raw broadcast, we've had a number of readers asking whether for the second time in history, WWE may be forced to cancel a scheduled Raw taping due to the weather.

Currently the Raw event is still scheduled. The Amalie Arena issued the following statement:

"Amalie Arena and our partners at WWE are aware of Tropical Storm Erika’s potential impact to our area in advance of WWE Raw on Monday, August 31. At this time, the event is not cancelled. However, we are keeping the storm top of mind. We will release any pertinent information as needed."

WWE has always had a "show must go on" attitude towards weather conditions, but has been screwed by Mother Nature several times in the past. The 1996 In Your House: Beware of Dog PPV went off the air for the majority of the show before returning for the main event of Davey Boy Smith vs. Shawn Michaels due to losing power during a hurricane in South Carolina.

In January 2015, WWE broadcast Raw from their headquarters in Stamford, CT after the city of Hartford shut down due to a blizzard, forcing the cancellation of a Raw taping set the city that evening.

Whether history is about to repeat itself, we'll find out by Monday evening.
