JOHN CENA IS A TOUGH MAN, WHAT WWE SHOULD NOT DO TO SETH ROLLINS, WWE NEEDED TO BRING BACK HEEL TACTICS AND MORE

So I clicked on your article where you guys shared the video of John Cena doing squats with a broken nose... That bears repeating, John Cena is doing squats with a broken nose!  I'll say it again, John Cena is doing squats with a BROKEN nose, John Cena is doing squats with a BROKEN NOSE, John Cena is doing SQUATS with a BROKEN FREAKIN NOSE, that's right, Kurt Angle!!!   Okay my question is, in this "Reality Era," when are fans going to stop booing him and give him the respect for how truly tough this MAN actually is?  He really does deserve the title of Super Cena.

You are preaching to the converted. I know that I used a headline that put over how tough he is. He is a bad ass, no doubt. I think all it would take is Vince easing up on the booking. Cena has great matches all the time now. All it would take is Vince McMahon having the character show some vulnerability and most people would come around.

What if Tod Gordon didn't sell ECW to Paul Heyman and remained 50% owner of the company and decided not to leave ECW in 1997. Would ECW survived past 2000?

Tod sold it to Paul because, kind of like Cary Silkin and ROH, it had become bigger than he ever intended it to be, plus he wasn’t going to go into debt to keep it going. Tod wanted a smaller, regional promotion but then ECW got too big. So he was going to get out when he did. He wouldn’t have stayed on.

Something I’ve been thinking about quite a lot recently, and the passing of HotRod brought it to the forefront of my mind - WWE’s lack of true heels. It’s something JR has addressed before but I wonder if theres a higher issue. He quite rightly points out that there aren’t any heels using ‘dirty’ tactics to win i.e. eye pokes, low blows, feigning injury, rolling up the tights, putting feet on the ropes whilst making a pin, uncovering the turnbuckle etc etc. Surely there isn’t a monopoly of guys like Flair, Eddie and HotRod (posthumously, sadly, in the case of the last 2) using these types of tactics. Hell, you could even choose to use ‘dirty’ tactics in some of the video games. This seems like such an easy style to adopt instead of using the now commonplace ‘coward’ heel ala Seth Rollins. My question is this - is this a decision made by the WWE now being PG and not wanting to be bad role models (which I find hard to believe), is it because it’s been done before, or is it because the superstars haven’t thought doing it? Your thoughts?

I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s not a PG decision. It’s a “how Vince McMahon thinks heels should be portrayed” decision. I couldn’t disagree with him more. Dirty tactics make a guy a heel. Being a coward does not.

We've seen a lot if talent buried after a program with Cena. With the accident involving his nose, how far down the ladder does Rollins go after they put the strap back on Cena at Summerslam?

I think if they do that, they are doing serious damage to Seth. Serious damage.

Is it me or is this season of Tough Enough becoming more biased? In previous seasons, especially early on, the show progressed naturally without any interference from WWE corporate. I've recently seen that WWE wants ZZ off the show, but at the end of the day, it’s not their choice! They gave the fans that power, hence why some of the more deserving candidates were voted off. Vince could just assume hire from the show who he wants, similar from the early days of NXT, and not slap fans in the face. If ZZ wins, it's a popularity contest, but that's kind of what happens.

Tough Enough is a reality show. As we have seen over time, “reality” is used very loosely in shows of that ilk. Frankly, like some of the viewers, I have already lost interest in it.
