PUNK AS A UFC DRAW, IS TNA A SINKING SHIP, WHAT IF USA DOESN'T WANT MORE TOUGH ENOUGH & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2015-07-25 10:00:00

Much like Brock Lesnar, will CM Punk become a box office success for UFC?

If you are meaning whether Punk will be a major drawing card immediately upon signing, my answer is no.  Brock Lesnar is a once in a lifetime attraction.  Now, could Punk build his name with a series of wins and great interviews and captivate people into wanting to see him fight?  Absolutely, but it will take good luck, good fights and time in order for that to happen.  It's going to be fascinating to see what happens.

On Tough Enough why is it that at the beginning of the show and towards the end when they bring out all of the competitors on stage for elimination, does everyone awkwardly clap for what seems to be FOREVER?!? I know I am being 'nit-picky' and really don't know why but, that gets on my nerves so much.. Who finds that to be a good idea? lol.. Also, I love the concept of Tough Enough but, do you think with the show not being the hit that it sounds like WWE and USA want/thought it would be, that the show won't be picked up for a new season?? If it doesn't could you see WWE doing it on the Network.. It's obviously not to expensive to produce because, I hear the contestants only get $100 a day and, everything is done in-house at the Performance Center.. So, if they did do it on the Network, they could cut-out the "Live" aspect and, it would be relatively inexpensive..

You have to remember that Tough Enough is first and foremost a TV show with a studio audience who are responding the way that those who produce the show are asking them to respond.  If the "Applause sign" goes off and people working for the show are egging them on to respond, the crowd is going to do what is asked of them.

If the series isn't picked up, it's possible WWE could take it in-house for the WWE Network, but to date, they haven't shown interest in doing TE as a series without a network partner, so I don't see it happening.  Reality TV is really long and hard to produce.

Should TNA finally be labeled a sinking ship? Make no mistake, I'm not rooting for it to fail. But after the Hernandez debacle, MVP, James storm, Austin Aries, and more leaving the company, and even the newly returned Bully Ray saying in an interview that WWE should hire him and Devon...all signs point to every star taking a payday where they can get one but ultimately jumping overboard. Not to mention Samoa Joe, Daniels, styles, kazarian, Sabin, Taz all choosing to leave rather than take less money. Is there a real future for TNA or are we watching the slow death of a wrestling company that once was a viable alternative to WWE?

The TNA that we all knew is long gone and is dead.  In it's place is the current version of the company, which is trying to find itself and is trying to survive, but I don't believe for a second that we are going to see TNA returning as a major touring act anytime in the near future.  It's now a company that produces a wrestling TV series, like Global Wrestling Federation did on ESPN back in the day.

Wouldn't it be awesome if fans chanted "Feed me 'Smores to Ryback?

Yes, because he might be able to pick up an advertising gig.  It works for John Cena and Fruity Pebbles!

Why are no reports on the New Japan shows that run on AXS TV channel 340 on directv Friday nights? Are those old shows?

Yes, they are.  Until recently, I didn't even receive the channel on my cable system and thus far, all the material is older than a year old.  It's awesome to have it airing in the United States, but it's hardly newsworthy in terms of in-depth weekly reports.
