WWE IN BOSTON, MA LIVE REPORT: AMBROSE VS. ROLLINS, THE ROCK, CENA VS. OWENS AND MORE

By Paul Crockett on 2015-06-27 23:23:08

WWE Live from the TD Garden in Boston
About 50% capacity give or take.

Match One: Ryback (c) v. Mark Henry

Ryback with a very strong babyface and a "Feed Me More" chant from the crowd. Henry offers his hand and Ryback instead gets another "Feed Me More" chant going. What a jerk of a babyface to turn down a sign of respect. After a bit of a slower paced match, Ryback picked up the win with a top rope splash. Yes. It was just like Tanahashi's High Fly Flow.

Match Two: Kofi Kingston v. Neville

Kofi doing great heel taunting early on getting the crowd to do a "New Day Sucks" chant. Took their time building the match before it got rolling and Neville won with the Red Arrow.

King Barrett cut a pre-tape promo talking about how he was the rookie during NXT Season 1, and now he is going to be teaching him a lesson tonight.

Match Three: Luke Harper & Heath Slater v. Macho Mandow & Axelmania

Axel attempted the Mania 3 slam, but Harper was too much and he buckled under the extreme pressure. Lots of half-assed but funny Hogan and Savage gestures followed.

They got the heat on Mandow but eventually Axel got the hot tag and Axeled up followed by the leg drop on Slater for the win.

Bray Wyatt cut a promo on Reigns, but I couldn't hear it.

Match Four: King Barrett & Sheamus v. Dolph Ziggler & Chris Jericho

The crowd went bananas for Jericho, and especially the jacket. A very loud "we want Lana" chant to which Ziggler got on the mic and said "so do I."

Jericho pointed out that the crowd was, in fact, telling him his haircut looked stupid. Sheamus said if they chanted it one more time he was leaving. As they chanted it, he tried to jump Jericho but was REBUFFED!

They got the heat on Jericho which lead to a hot tag to Ziggler. He cleaned up on Sheamus until a Barrett distraction got the heels back in control. They beat up on Ziggler for a while until another hot tag to Jericho. Chaos ensued until Jericho pinned Barrett with a Codebreaker.

Tremendous video tribute to Connor Michalek and they pointed people toward the merch stands to buy a bracelet that goes toward Connor's Cure.

Match Five: Kevin Owens v. John Cena

Cena with the biggest reaction so far. Owens doing a great job early taking powders to get the crowd all over him. Tons of kids here tonight, so a very pro-Cena crowd.

Owens got the heat on Cena and Cena teased a few comebacks before they ended up trading some very good near falls. Both guys working their asses off and getting awesome crowd reactions. They were building toward a great finish when during an exchange of punches, Owens dropped down and low blowed Cena for a DQ. Owens went for a belt shot after the match but Cena put him out with an AA then celebrated with his dad in the front row.

Bo Dallas was being obnoxious and singing a song, and I was wondering who was going to show up to interrupt him. Then THE ROCK showed up and I lost my mind. He did all of his usual Rockisms, and made Bo do his victory lap. When he came back in, they shook hands and Rock said, "Boston Strong, Bitch" and gave him the Rock Bottom. He teased not doing the People's Elbow, but of course delivered and left the crowd happy with "If Ya Smell..." He thanked Boston for being his home for the last few months while filming a movie with Kevin Hart.

Intermission

Match Six: Paige v. Naomi v. Nikki Bella (c) for the Divas Title

This is a hard one to describe. All three are working very hard. Naomi seemed to be the heel, while Nikki was a tweener and Paige was the face.

Good action from all three. A lot of spots where one would do a move to the other and the third would try to steal the fall with no success. Nikki with an impressive Cross Rhodes knee on Paige for a near fall. Tamina took out Paige on the floor, Brie took out Tamina, and Nikki hit the Rack Attack on Naomi to retain.

Match Seven: Roman Reigns v. Bray Wyatt

Reigns seemed a little more animated in the light of what is turning into a personal issue between the two, so it's good to see him mad. I would have liked to have seen more of a slugfest given that issue, but they had a slow build-up of back and forth moves.

They started to brawl on the outside and they got counted out. Unlike protecting Owens earlier, there was no need to protect Wyatt with this finish. After the match, Reigns hit the Superman punch and Wyatt ran off. That was a waste and did nothing for either guy.

MAIN EVENT: Seth Rollins (c) v. Dean Ambrose for the WWE Title

The show has been going on over three hours and this crowd is tired. Not a lot of reaction early on here. Both guys working hard, but not a lot of heat for anything.

Rollins started working over the leg and tried a Figure Four, but shockingly, it didn't finish the job. Rollins kept the heat on Ambrose, but there was no energy left in the house and they couldn't get anything going. There were having a very good match regardless of that.

Wait a second! Rollins took off his belt and started whipping Ambrose and it got the crowd back in it a little and behind Ambrose. When Ambrose got the belt and started hitting Rollins, the crowd got into it.

Both men on the top rope, Ambrose with the rolling Dusty elbow to crotch Rollins, and followed with a top rope elbow for a near fall.   They did a few teases of climbing over the top. Rollins hit the turnbuckle powerbomb, but Ambrose popped back with a lariat. He was about to escape when Wyatt came down and closed the door on his head allowing Rollins to Pedigree Ambrose and escape the cage.

Overall a fun show but it went too long and the last two matches suffered heavily for it. No return date announced.
