TNA SLAMMIVERSARY 2015 PPV TIP SHEET

By Dave Scherer, Mike Johnson & Richard Trionfo on 2015-06-27 20:04:05

Here is the current card for the Slammiversary Pay Per View, which will take place on Sunday night from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, along with out thoughts on what will happen.

Dave: Before I get into my thoughts I just want to say that I agree with what Mike said on our show this week. While there will probably be good wrestling on the show, overall it’s a travesty. With the company taping TV that runs a month after this show even airs, it’s obvious what will happen in a few matches. For this company to not have the forethought to have the TV they needed in the can before what is supposed to be one of their biggest shows of the year is just utterly ridiculous. Also, we know James Storm is out of contract after tonight. Magnus is too, as is Austin Aries. The plan is to bring them back on a per show basis, but they will be out of contract. Part of the problem came with the move to Wednesdays, for sure, but still, this show is a hard one to sell.

King of the Mountain Match (for the King of the Mountain Championship): Jeff Jarrett versus Bobby Roode versus Drew Galloway versus Eric Young versus Matt Hardy

Dave: If Jeff Jarrett wins here, it means he will have a bigger role with the company. The word I have been getting is TNA wants to work with Global Force Wrestling going forward, so it wouldn’t shock me to see Jeff win. Of the other guys, Matt doesn’t need it. EY would be a letdown. So that comes down to Roode and Galloway. If Austin Aries is leaving after this show, Roode may end up back as a single so he could use the win. Galloway could use it more though. If not Jarrett, I would have Drew win.

Mike: I expect TNA (Dixie Carter specifically as a way to show she's a babyface now) will give Jeff the TNA Hall of Fame induction, so he doesn't need to win here.  Galloway makes the most sense here.  I've never been a big fan of this bout because it's always been a little clunky in the stipulations.  It should be OK as there are a lot of good workers in this.

Richard: When they announced this match and that Jeff Jarrett was going to be in it, I was hoping that all six former King of the Mountain winners would be participating, but that would be hard for half of the winners since they are otherwise contractually obligated. This is an interesting mix of wrestlers for the match, but what the heck is the King of the Mountain Championship? Is it a title that will be defended on a regular basis or will it be something that is defended every year at Slammiversary? Do you have Jarrett win ‘his match’? I would have Roode win the match since he is the highest profile regular roster member in the match. I was hoping that there would be no title on the line and since the pay per view is at Universal Studios, why not give some promotion to a Universal movie and have the winner be the first to hook a Minion above the ring?

Winner Selects the Stipulation for Match 5 of the Tag Title Series: Davey Richards versus Austin Aries

Dave: Hmm, I wonder what is going to happen here. Oh wait, I already know because the dopes already filmed next week’s TV! The match should be good, for sure, but I already know who wins.

Mike: I abstain, although this should kick major ass.

Richard: This would be my pick for match of the night. I think we will get a very good match from these two to set up their match that will air on Wednesday night. The four matches so far have been good, with the second one standing out for me. Both men have proven what they can do in the ring. At least they have not announced what stipulation each would select if they win the match because I think we have a good idea what the winner will choose.

Non Sanctioned Match: James Storm versus Magnus

Dave: If this is booked to be anything other than Magnus beating the living snot out of Storm for much of the match, then winning in devastating fashion, it will make more sense.

Mike: I am 100% with Dave on this.

Richard: If this match does not see Magnus come out and beat Storm within an inch of his life after pushing his fiancée off a train platform and suggest that his child was pushed off the stage, then revenge is not something creative understands. The story behind this match has been so out there that the match does not interest me. Let Storm win since he has been doing stuff on television.

Awesome Kong and Brooke versus Taryn Terrell, Jade, and Marti Bell

Dave: We know what will happen here too.

Mike: I abstain.

Richard: The two women that will be facing Taryn on Wednesday for the Knockout Title team to face the ‘current champ’ and her followers. If they wanted a female equivalent of The Shield or Wyatt Family, they ended up with a female version of The Corre, or worse, the Revolution or Rising. If Marti and Jade don?t have a solid performance in this match, what was the purpose to bring them in? I would not be surprised to see some tension between Kong and Brooke as they try to be the one to pin the champ before their match next week. I think that will allow The Dollhouse to get the victory and the team with the numerical advantage wins a match for a change

Ethan Carter III and Tyrus versus Ken Anderson and Bobby Lashley

Dave: This match has had no build at all. It would make no sense at all for the Babyfaces to win, since EC3 gets his Title shot next week. But Lashley did lose to ECW due to Tryus so I wouldn’t shocked to see them have Anderson and Lashley win when they make Tyrus call his mama.

Mike: Lashley pins EC3 to set up future challenges.

Richard: This feels like a ‘We Need a Match for Ethan Carter III and it is a tag match, so get me the Roster Dartboard for opponents’ Match. Carter will find a way to win using some sort of chicanery. I wonder if Carter will be distracted knowing what is in store for him on Wednesday night. This could be a lot better if it was a rematch of Lashley and Carter.

Robbie E versus Jessie Godderz

Dave: Robbie is what he is. Jessie has a chance to be something better. Jessie should go over here.

Mike: I am hoping 911 comes out and chokeslams them both.

Richard: This seems like the match that symbolizes this pay per view the most and the way that pay per views have lost importance for this company. Jessie has shown a lot in establishing a heel character, but he is stuck in the angle with the former BroMans. I think Jessie wins, but what is next for him?

Bram versus Matt Morgan

Dave: Bram needs to either win here or just destroy Morgan to get himself DQ’d but up his stock. Morgan is the past, Bram is the present. He needs to go over here.

Mike: It makes no sense to bring Morgan back with an angle and have him lose.  I expect a screwy finish here.

Richard: I am glad that Matt Morgan is back because it will allow TNA to continue his feud with Hernandez from a few years ago. Maybe if the referees are going to be a little more lenient with the rules like Bram wanted, they won’t disqualify him the first time he uses a weapon. Bram uses the turnbuckle to knock out Morgan and win the match.
