WHY NXT SUCCEEDS WHERE THE NEW ECW FAILED, WOULD HHH SUE CHYNA AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2015-06-13 10:00:00
Could you explain more about the ROH action figure deal? Is it something each wrestler signed on for individually or a case of ROH doing one deal for all of their performers? If it wasn't something Steen signed for his own likeness, I would think WWE would still be able to make a Kevin Owens figure without negotiating with Figures, Inc.

Figures Inc. approached ROH about the deal and came to terms. ROH then set up the wrestlers to sign deals. The deals were signed in late 2013. The figures are only now beign seen because of delays. I don't believe Steen signing to do the figure would have any issue with having a WWE figure.

Do you expect to see HHH or WWE filing a lawsuit against Chyna for her recent allegations that HHH was physically violent with her during their relationship? HHH (if the allegations are untrue, which I expect to be the case) would have a case for slander, and WWE could make similar claims given that HHH is a corporate officer of WWE and that such allegations could have financial consequences for WWE.

It could come to that if she keeps pushing the allegations, but I think it was pretty clear when Sean Waltman confronted her on the Opie Show that she really didn't have much to back her claims. HHH would have to prove that her allegations damaged him and I really don't believe they have, because no one really believes her stories.

It seems like anyone who had independent wrestling experience beyond a few months was eliminated from Tough Enough. Did WWE bring these talents in to discard them on purpose?

No, I think they just made eliminations and decided upon a cast that was going to give them the best TV show they and the USA Network wanted. What they were looking for, we'll have to see when the show airs.

Why did NXT succeed when the new ECW failed?

NXT was given one location to run, it was given time to let fans fall in love with the characters, it was allowed to be different and it was given a slot on the WWE Network where it could grow and not have the pressure of worrying about getting quarter hour numbers that could make a network happy. It wasn't touring immediately on an advertising budget of $500 a show like ECW was. There were no expectations on NXT. There were huge expectations on ECW, there was no way ECW could live up to what it used to be and with NXT, it was all gravy because there were NO expectations. Plus, Triple H was going to get a lot more freedom and slack then Paul Heyman or Tommy Dreamer were ever going to get.

I saw some GFW photos and well, it looked empty. DOA?

I haven't seen photos but Chris Lyell sent word there were 400-500 fans, which isn't amazing by any stretch, but as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day. It's on Jeff Jarrett to try and build momentum for his company.
