Randy Orton makes his way to the ring to kick off tonight’s broadcast and he grabs a microphone because he has something to say. Orton says that WWE Payback is a fitting name for a pay-per-view and he will be getting payback on Seth Rollins in two weeks. Orton talks about how the fans also voted Roman Reigns into the match and he will still leave WWE Champion at the event. Reigns makes his way to the ring through the crowd, interrupting Orton’s talking time in the ring. Reigns grabs a microphone as he comes into the ring, Reigns says that it will be him getting payback on Rollins.

The fans chant “RKO” as Orton urges them on, Reigns tells Orton that his fans will not be fighting for him in the ring. Reigns says that if Orton comes near him at WWE Payback, he will not be standing for much longer. Orton talks about his history in the WWE, while downplaying what Reigns has done in the WWE thus far. Reigns then says that he defeated Orton this past year at WWE Summerslam and he will defeat Orton again if he has to so he can win the WWE Championship. The New Day come to the stage with a microphone in hand, Xavier Woods says since Orton and Reigns are so negative, that the New Day will be a positive.

Woods references the Montreal Screwjob while calling both men a bunch of whiners, a “New Day Sucks” chant breaks out. Big E talks about how Reigns cannot win the big one and the Rollins seemingly has Orton’s number. Big E wants both Orton and Reigns to clap along with them, which neither wrestler obliges them in doing so. Big E announces that the New Day will face Orton and Reigns in a handicapped match, as ordered by Kane, the match will start right now.

Non-Title Handicap Match: The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods) (WWE Tag Team Champions) vs. Randy Orton & Roman Reigns

We return from commercial with Orton and Kingston locking up to start the match, Orton catches a charging Kingston with a clothesline before dropping him on the top rope. Reigns tags in and he catches a hanging Kingston with a suplex, Kingston runs away before tagging Woods in. Woods applies a headlock to Reigns, Reigns uses his power to send Xavier into the ropes to hit him with a shoulder tackle. Reigns then hits Woods with a samoan drop before tagging Orton in, Orton lands a suplex for a near fall. Orton stomps on the back of Woods before landing a knee drop, Reigns tags in and he punches Woods in the gut.

Reigns then kicks a sitting Woods directly in the face, Orton tags in and he resumes his stomping session on Woods. Woods tries fighting back and Orton kicks him in the face, Kingston distracts Orton as Big E tags in to hit him with a belly to belly suplex. Kingston tags in and he chokes Orton on the middle rope before tagging Woods in, Woods slows the match down by locking Orton in a chin lock. Orton tries fighting back and Woods drops him with a dropkick as we head to commercial.

The action resumes with Kingston holding Reigns in the chin lock in the corner, Reigns shakes Kingston off of him and he eats a dropkick for a near fall. Big E tags in and he immediately hits Reigns with an overhead release suplex, Big E claps with the crowd before nailing Reigns with another overhead release suplex. Woods tags in and he catches Reigns with a slingshot elbow drop for a near fall, Reigns starts fighting back and Woods hits him with a swinging neck breaker. Kingston tags in and he nails Reigns with a punch from the middle rope, Kingston drags Reigns to the mat while controlling his head.

Reigns again looks for the comeback and Kingston shoves him to the mat, Woods tags in and he applies the chin lock to Reigns. Reigns tosses Woods off of him before clobbering him with a clothesline, Orton tags in and he attacks each member of New day. Orton catches a leaping Kingston with a power slam, Reigns then pops Big E with a superman punch. Orton then hits Kingston with his middle rope DDT, Orton looks for the RKO and Wood interferes to just eat one himself. Orton looks to RKO Kingston and Reigns accidentally hits him with the spear, Reigns is pulled out of the ring as Kingston pins Orton for the three count.

Winners: The New Day

After the match, Reigns looks downtrodden as he enters the ring to check on Orton, Kane comes on stage with a microphone in hand. Kane states that there is no shame in losing to the WWE Tag Team Champions, Kane then says that Orton will face Reigns in the main event of WWE Raw tonight.

Kane is walking around backstage as he sees The New Day celebrating their win, he continues walking until Seth Rollins stops him. Rollins compares Kane to a spoiled rotten kid who is trying to make good and The Authority will be returning to punish Kane. Kane then defends his action towards Orton and Reigns tonight, then he makes a match between Rollins and Dean Ambrose tonight and Rollins security team will be banned tonight. Rollins complains to Kane about his decision, but Kane threatens him with more punishment and an angered Rollins storms away.

Renee Young is in the ring for an interview with Ryback, Ryback tells the fans of Montreal that they sound hungry. Ryback says that he has no idea why Bray Wyatt has attacked him and he is not scared of Wyatt, Ryback says that he has faced fear throughout his life. Ryback talks about breaking his ankle many years ago and how he was told he would never wrestle again, but he returned to the ring. Ryback says that he eats fear everyday and he always turns that fear into a positive so he can be a hero for the kids.

Ryback says that he does what he does for everybody in the WWE Universe and that Wyatt can never scare him. Ryback states that talking time is all done and feeding time begins, which prompts Wyatt to appear on the big screen. Wyatt says that this human worlds makes some inhuman monsters and he can see through the facade of Ryback. Wyatt talks about how people fear the unknown and he will take everything away from Ryback in time.

Pre-taped interview with The Ascension, who says that Tyson Kidd is a wannabe member of the Hart Family and that The Ascension are the kings of the future.

Cesaro & Tyson Kidd w/Natalya vs. The Ascension (Viktor & Konnor)

The match begins with The Ascension jumping both Kidd and Cesaro, Viktor stomps away on Kidd as Konnor tags in. Viktor rips away at the face of Kidd before tagging Viktor back in, Viktor catches Kidd with a slam and leg drop for a near fall. Viktor holds Kidd in a chin lock before tagging Konnor in, Connor hits Kidd with a back suplex for a near fall. Viktor tags in and he catches Kidd with a missile dropkick, Connor tags in again he he hits Kidd with a slam before missing the elbow drop.

Viktor tags in and Kidd tags Cesaro in, Cesaro starts cleaning house on both members of The Ascension with a ton of European uppercuts. Cesaro eventually plants Viktor with a short arm clothesline and gut wrench suplex, Connor comes into the ring and Cesaro quickly tosses him out. Kidd then hits Connor with a suicide dive, Cesaro and Kidd hit Viktor with the big swing into a dropkick for the three count.

Winners: Tyson Kidd & Cesaro w/Natalya

Seth Rollins is shown walking backstage when Renee Young asks him about his match with Dean Ambrose tonight. Rollins says that the match tonight serves no purpose and that Kane is a moron for putting it together.

Kane comes out to the stage before the match begins, Kane then states that if Ambrose defeats Rollins tonight, he will be in the main event of WWE Payback. Rollins grabs the microphone to complain about his decision, Ambrose steals the microphone and he says that it is a great idea. Rollins steals the microphone back and he argues with Kane, Kane orders the match to start.

Non-Title Match
If Ambrose Wins, He Is In The Main Event Of WWE Payback
Seth Rollins (WWE Champion) vs. Dean Ambrose

This match begins with Ambrose catching Rollins with a quick roll up for a two count, Ambrose chops away at Rollins until he escapes on the arena floor. Ambrose follows Rollins out to the arena floor and a brawl ensues, Ambrose hits Rollins with a slingshot clothes line before tossing him back into the ring. Ambrose traps the arm of Rollins before kicking him in the head, Ambrose hits Rollins with an elbow drop for a near fall. Ambrose briefly locks Rollins in the STF before nailing him with a suplex, Rollins starts making a comeback by attacking Ambrose with strikes in the corner. Rollins drops Ambrose with a snap mare before kicking him in the back, Rollins brings Ambrose to the corner to assault him with punches.

Ambrose switches spots with Rollins to punch him multiple times, Ambrose then drops Rollins with a chop for another near fall. Rollins makes his comeback by slamming Ambrose and then cracking him with a knee drop, Rollins slows things down by applying the chin lock to Ambrose. Rollins releases the hold to nail Ambrose with a short arm clothes line, Rollins again applies a chin lock to Ambrose. Ambrose kicks a ducking Rollins in the face before propelling him to the arena floor as we head to commercial.

The action resumes with Rollins twisting the head of a seated Ambrose, Ambrose starts fighting back and Rollins smashes him into the middle turnbuckle. Rollins goes for the springboard knee drop and Ambrose avoids him, Ambrose then catches Rollins with a tornado DDT after avoiding a second knee attempt. Ambrose punches away at Rollins before attacking him with chops, Ambrose then hits Rollins with a few forearm strikes and a running bulldog. Ambrose leaps off the top rope and Rollins escapes to the arena floor, Ambrose makes him pay by catching him with a suicide dive.

Ambrose brings Rollins into the ring before nailing him with a chicken wing slam for a near fall, Ambrose looks for Dirty Deeds and Rollins escapes. The wrestlers go through a few reversals, Ambrose finds his way to the top rope to hit Rollins with his elbow drop for a two count. Rollins moves to the ring apron to drop Ambrose throat first on the top rope, Rollins then hits Ambrose with a springboard knee strike to the face for a near fall. Rollins starts taunting a hurt Ambrose until he eats a slap, Rollins makes Ambrose pay by nailing him with a superkick for a near fall.

The wrestler exchange a ton of strikes that ends when Ambrose clotheslines himself and Rollins over the top rope to the arena floor. Rollins eventually finds a way to power bomb Ambrose into the security railing, Rollins returns to the ring as the referee initiates a ten count. Ambrose makes his way back in the ring at the count of nine and Rollins stomps away on him, Rollins and Ambrose exchange a few forearm strikes afterwards. Rollins nails Ambrose with an inzaguri and Ambrose responds with a rope assisted clothes line, J&J Security tries interfering and Ambrose deals with them. Rollins looks to attack Ambrose from behind and Ambrose surprises him with a roll up for a three count.

Winner: Dean Ambrose (Advances to the main event of WWE Payback)
