BY THE NUMBERS: LOOKING BACK AT THE WEEK IN WRESTLING FROM WWE, TNA, AND ROH

By Richard Trionfo on 2015-05-03 23:19:14
The end of a month and the start of a new month bring us back into a respectable neighborhood when it comes to the amount of wrestling we saw on television. With the King of the Ring Special on the WWE Network, there was even more wrestling than is being listed in the unofficial ‘official’ totals below. We had 203 minutes of wrestling in the seven regular shows, but when you add the totals from the King of the Ring special, we would have been at 221 minutes thanks to the 18 minutes of wrestling on that show. This is the second time in five weeks that we have been over 200 minutes and the first time since then that we had two shows with more than forty minutes of wrestling.

Raw won the week with 50 minutes of wrestling, the third time in the last five weeks that we have had Raw in the 50s. Impact finished second with 42 minutes, an increase of 15 minutes from last week. Smackdown finished with 38 minutes of wrestling, the third show to have a double digit increase over the previous week. This was the first time in six weeks that Smackdown was over 30 minutes. Ring of Honor finished in fourth place with 32 minutes of wrestling, up eight minutes from last week.

NXT finished in fifth place with 17 minutes, down three minutes from last week. NXT is one of two shows to see a decrease from last week. The other show to see a drop from last week was Main Event, which dropped eight minutes to finish with 12 minutes of wrestling. Also with twelve minutes of wrestling, the same total as last week to finish tied for sixth was Superstars.

After three weeks with a total of eight ten minute matches, we had seven this week. Smackdown, Impact, and Ring of Honor each had two ten minute matches while Raw had the other one. Raw had the only one minute match for the week. The next ten minute match from Smackdown will be the 200th for the show.

The overall total passed 41,000 minutes this week while Raw passed 9,700 minutes. Impact passed 7,400 minutes and Superstars passed 4,300 minutes. Raw passed 1,900 matches while the WWE match total passed 5,500 minutes.

The continuing battle between Ring of Honor and Superstars for fifth place got even tighter with Ring of Honor gaining 20 minutes on Superstars this week. The difference between the two shows is now 26 minutes. If Ring of Honor can average 25 minutes per week and Superstars continues with its current average, we will have a tie.

The times for the King of the Ring Matches on the WWE Network were:
Adrian Neville versus Sheamus: 6 Minutes
Wade Barrett versus R Truth: 5 Minutes
Wade Barrett versus Adrian Neville: 7 Minutes

With April ending this week, I will have the totals for the month of April in next week’s column.
