I am sometimes a little embarrassed when you call me strong. You all are strong and you have helped me to be. I always look at things that have happened in my life and recognize what is sad but then immediately look for the ways I am grateful. When I lost Warrior I would wake every single morning giving thanks for the lives of my girls. I do not know that I would have been able to live through losing one of them.
Steve Michalek has withstood this unthinkable pain. He has continued to breathe in and out each day with courage and honor despite losing his beautiful son and the person he called his "best friend". Such a loss is a pain I cannot fathom. Everything about our children lives in their possibility..their futures...their dreams...the men and women we imagine them growing up to become. The fact that Steve has been brave enough for his living son, Jackson, to face every day of this past year is a testament to who he is as a man. To the man Jackson will grow up to be. To the young man Connor was in his all too brief eight years. My heart is so heavy when I think of Steve's loss. Mine was very hard but Warrior was cheated out of a happily ever after...Connor barely got to fully explore his once upon a time...
Today marks the one year anniversary of Connor's passing. It will be a dark day for those he loved who were left behind. Will you help me write a few epic pages in Connor's book of life? Will you take a moment today to donate to Connor's Cure with the note, "Warriors Believe in the Cure"? The girls and I wear our bracelets every single day. It feels good to know we contributed to Connor's legacy. If he goes down as the child who was the impetus for helping eradicate cancer wouldn't that make him a thing of legends? Warrior ALWAYS taught the girls and I to believe in the unbelievable! Let's believe ourselves right into curing cancer in Connor's name!!!
I believe in Connor. I believe in his brave family and send them all my love today...I believe in all you warriors and your willingness to stand up and fight for what is right...I believe we can make a difference....I believe in writing chapters in books of legendary crushers...ALWAYS!
