WWE NXT REPORT: CHAMPIONS SHOWCASE: OWENS VS. BALOR AND BLISS VS. BANKS

We start off with footage from NXT’s non Florida television debut.

We are in Winter Park, Florida and your announcers are Rich Brennan and Corey Graves.

Match Number One: Alexa Bliss versus Sasha Banks for the NXT Women’s Title

Sasha has something to say to Alexa before the bell rings. Bliss with a drop toe hold and a near fall. Bliss with a crucifix driver and she gets a near fall. Bliss with an inside cradle for a near fall. Sasha with a knee to the midsection and she taunts Bliss. Bliss with an arm drag counter and a rollup for a near fall. Bliss with a drop kick for a near fall.

Banks with an Irish whip and Bliss tries to float over but Banks with a kick to the head and she punches Bliss and then stands on her hand. Banks with a snap mare and a running slap and she curtseys and gets a near fall. Banks with an Irish whip but Bliss with an elbow. Banks puts Bliss in the ropes and hits the double knee strike to the midsection and Banks gets a near fall.

Banks with a Japanese stranglehold and she arches Bliss back and puts her foot in Bliss’ back. Banks continues to taunt Bliss while she has Alexa in the submission hold. Banks alternates between having Bliss on her knees and having her foot in the back. Bliss tries for a rollup but Banks blocks it. Bliss with an inside cradle for a near fall.

Banks runs Bliss into the turnbuckles and connects with a shoulder. The referee warns Banks but Banks tries for a power bomb out of the corner and Bliss counters with a head scissors and then she sends Sasha to the floor.

The referee starts his count and Alexa goes to the floor to make sure that Sasha does not get counted out. Bliss with a Thesz Press and slap to Banks. Bliss with a flying forearm and a forearm. Bliss with a leg sweep and she hits a Glitz Flip for a near fall. Bliss misses a splash into the corner but Bliss hits a flip power bomb for a near fall.

Bliss goes up top but Banks with a forearm and she sends bliss to the mat and Sasha applies the Bank Statement and Bliss taps out.

Winner: Sasha Banks

Kevin Owens says they have a lot in common. They are world class performers and both have made an impact since coming to NXT. Finn did it painting himself like a demon while Owens points out he won the title in two months. He is looking forward to tonight. He tells Finn to bring the demon because it won’t matter. No one is taking the title from him or his family.

We go to a Kevin Owens video package.

Emma stops by in the locker room to tell Bayley she told her so. She tells Bayley she has been too nice and then she goes and loses to Becky Lynch. She tells Bayley to look inside for a tougher edge. The NXT crowd will fool you. They aren’t the ones who will get you where you want to be.

Bayley says that they are different people. The NXT Universe got her the Number One Contender spot twice . . .

Emma slaps Bayley and leaves.

Devin Taylor asks Tyler Breeze what is next. He says that he beat Itami and now he wants to get an NXT Title shot.

Itami enters the interview area and he points out that he beat him too. He challenges Breeze to a two out of three falls match next week.

Breeze says that he didn’t say yes as Itami leaves and he leaves too.

We go to commercial.

We are back with a Dana Brooke video profile.

Rich mentions the NXT show in San Jose and the Wrestlemania coverage on the WWE Network.

Rich wonders if Roman Reigns will be the first NXT alumnus to win the WWE Championship as well as the other matches to involve NXT veterans including Bray Wyatt and Seth Rollins.

He mentions the other matches on the pay per view.

Devin is with Finn Balor in the interview area. He says that Kevin loves the sound of his voice while he does his talking in the ring. He says that he does not need the Demon to beat Kevin Owens.

We see footage from last week on NXT when Kevin Owens faced Alex Riley.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady, and Carmella are talking. Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake enter and Wesley says they would never hurt a lady and they have a present for Carmella. They give her some jewelry and she points out they never give her jewelry.

Match Number Two: Finn Balor versus Kevin Owens for the NXT Heavyweight Title

They stand in their respective corners as the bell rings and they circle each other before Owens goes to the floor to get inside Balor’s head. Owens does a lap around the ring and he starts to go up the ramp for a moment before returning to the apron. They lock up and Balor backs Owens into the corner and he gives a clean break but Owens with a kick to the midsection followed by a side head lock and take down.

Balor with forearms but Owens holds on to the side head lock. Owens with a shoulder tackle and he asks where is the demon now. Balor with a drop kick and Owens rolls to the floor.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Balor with an arm bar. Owens gets back to his feet and connects with forearms to get out of the hold. Owens with another forearm and he tries for a sunset flip but Balor rolls through and hits a drop kick for a near fall. Balor with an arm bar. Owens backs Balor into the corner and he connects with a shoulder instead of a clean break. Owens with a punch.

Owens with an Irish whip but Balor sends Owens to the apron and he connects with a forearm. Balor tries to suplex Owens back into the ring but Owens drops Balor’s throat onto the top rope. Owens returns to the ring and he kicks Balor in the head. Owens with a short arm clothesline and then he punches Balor in the head. Owens with an elbow drop and more kicks.

Owens with a head butt and Balor is down. Owens chokes Balor with his boot and the referee warns him. Owens with a reverse chin lock. Balor gets back to his feet and he connects with an elbow and forearm. Owens with a running elbow and he walks across the midsection and he gets a near fall.

Owens returns to the reverse chin lock.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Owens continues to wear down Balor. Owens with a rear chin lock and he sends Balor to the floor. Owens follows and he punches Balor. Owens sets for the power bomb on the apron but Balor blocks it and he counters with a back body drop. Finn sends Owens back into the ring and he punches Owens. Balor with a cross body but Owens catches him.

Balor tries for a crucifix driver but Owens blocks and hits a Samoan drop for a near fall. Owens with a back senton for a near fall. Owens chops Balor in the corner. Owens punches Balor and Balor goes down. Owens gets a near fall. Owens returns to the reverse chin lock and he uses his body weight for extra pressure on Balor.

Owens with a forearm and he returns to the reverse chin lock. Owens with a hard Irish whip and Owens taunts Balor. Owens with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Owens with a snap mare and a reverse chin lock.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Owens picks up Balor but Balor with a forearm. Balor with more forearms but Owens with a knee to the midsection. Balor floats over and he sends Owens over the top rope to the floor. Balor with a flip dive onto Owens and Owens may have hit his head on the ramp. Balor sends Owens back into the ring and he goes up top and hits the double stomp to the back of the head but Owens kicks out at two.

Balor with a dragon sleeper but Owens with a snap mare and forearm. Balor with a Pele kick and Owens is down. Balor gets back to his feet and he hits a running chop into the corner. Balor with an Irish whip but he misses the chop. Owens does not miss with the chop. Balor with a Slingblade and then he hits a clothesline that flips Owens. Balor with an elevated Dragon DDT for a near fall.

Balor waits for Owens to get up for the running drop kick but Owens moves and Balor hits the turnbuckles and he appears to have injured his left knee when it hit the turnbuckle. Owens kicks Balor in the back of the leg and then he clips Balor as he continues to go after the injured knee. Owens pulls Balor over the apron and slams the leg into the apron and then he wrings it against the ring post.

Owens takes his time getting back into the ring as he smells blood in the ring. Owens with a kick to the leg and to the hamstring. The referee asks Balor if he wants to continue. Owens stands on the injured leg and he hits a senton. Owens with a half crab and Balor tries to get to the ropes and he succeeds.

Owens releases the hold. Balor goes to the apron and Owens brings him back into the ring. Balor with a double stomp after escaping a power bomb attempt. Both men are down. Balor struggles to stay on his feet and Owens kicks Balor in the injured knee. Owens goes to the turnbuckles but Balor with an enzuigiri.

Balor climbs the turnbuckles for a superplex but Owens counters with a super muscle buster for a near fall. Balor rolls to the apron while both men get back to their feet. Balor with an enzuigiri but Owens with a clip to the leg one more time. Owens with a cannonball and then he puts Balor’s leg in the ropes and he ties it up. The referee warns Owens and then he tries to get the leg out of the ropes but Owens with a cannonball to the leg. The referee warns Owens one more time.

Owens tries for another cannonball but Balor moves. Balor with a running drop kick that sends Owens into the turnbuckles and then he goes up top for the double stomp and he hits it but he cannot get over to Owens to make the cover. Owens with a pop up power bomb for the three count.

Winner: Kevin Owens
