SMACKDOWN TAPING REMINDER, THOUGHTS ON WWE GIVING AWAY RUMBLE BOUTS, JUSTIN GABRIEL'S FIRST POST-WWE APPEARANCE, ORTON AND MORE

Just as a reminder, tonight's WWE Smackdown taping in Boston, MA is canceled.

This Thursday's Smackdown will be a live broadcast from the XL Center in Hartford, CT. Officially announced for the show is Kane vs. Daniel Bryan in a Casket Match.

The interviews on last night's Raw broadcast were filmed earlier in the day yesterday in order to allow Brock Lesnar to return home to Minnesota. The announcer segments were all live at WWE HQ.

Lesnar will be working the Thursday Smackdown taping.

The Raw Pre-Game show was pulled from the WWE Network yesterday for obvious reasons. There was talk yesterday that WWE will instead do a Smackdown Pre-Game broadcast this Thursday.

The response to WWE airing the main events from Sunday's Royal Rumble has been interesting. While I can understand why fans who paid for the Rumble were upset the matches were given away on Raw, the reality is that WWE was dealing with a very extreme circumstance that will likely be a once in a lifetime occurrence. By airing the Rumble and the WWE World Heavyweight championship match, they were able to forward storylines and also pretty much have WWE Network promotion the entire broadcast. They absolutely turned a negative into a positive.

Randy Orton will be signing tomorrow at the Auto Show in Washington, DC.

Former WWE star Justin Gabriel has already been announced for the Pro Wrestling Syndicate event this Saturday 1/31 in Rahway, NJ. He'll be working under the name PJ Black.

Set for this week's episode of NXT:

*Contract signing between NXT champion Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
*NXT Championship Top Contender's Tournament: Bull Dempsey vs. Baron Corbin.
NXT Championship Top Contender's Tournament: Adrian Neville vs. Tyson Kidd.
*NXT Women's champion Charlotte and Bayley vs. Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch.
*NXT Tag Team champions The Lucha Dragons vs. Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy.
