ROMAN REIGNS’ PROMOS, WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN HHH TAKES OVER, TWEAKING THE ASCENTION, AND MORE

I was bewildered as to why Reigns did such a weird promo last Friday until I heard Vince was writing his promo.  Then I remembered the wink into the camera.  One commentator said it was for the kids.  I think it was for Vince.  Think about what he said.  The S' s point to mechanics and memorization.  I am a preacher and I use points for my outline when I preach.  Each point has a keyword with the same letter as other points.  I have a feeling that promo was done that way for Roman to practice with mechanics and memorization.  We know Reigns has been working with people to fix his promos so even though what he said was silly speech it did have a system to spread his sentences out superbly.  What do you think?

I didn’t put that much thought in it. I don’t see Vince using Raw for top tier guys’ lessons though. He uses it to do things he thinks will get over. I think he thought that was a good promo for Reigns to do. Me? I don’t agree.

After the recent changes for the ringside announce teams for Raw and Smackdown, do you think the new team of Saxton / Cole / Lawler could pave the way for Lawler to turn into a heel announcer again? It would be refreshing to hear especially for the older school fans and may help Smackdown with tv ratings?

I don’t think having Lawler go heel would help ratings at all. Announcers aren’t draws in my opinion and at this point I think people just want to appreciate Lawler. I don’t see the point in making him a heel.

How do WWE set up the ring for things such as Big Show chokeslamming Taker through the ring?

They put the mechanics in place before the show so that when they need to put them into play, they can. They make sure that the ring is perfectly strong for the wrestling, but can also come down safely when need be.

Since coming up to the main roster, the Ascension has been underwhelming.  In their early days of NXT however, they had a fresh, unique look and entrance that was reminiscent of characters from a World of Warcraft-type role playing game.  This persona got my interest and made them stand out as it was something I had never seen in wrestling before.  Viktor even had these contact lenses that made his entire eyeball appear black, which again was very unique and made his look stand out.  But then on RAW they changed their look and took away their theme song in favor of a generic one that sounds almost identical to Seth Rollins' theme.  My question is, do you think it would be a good idea going forward for them to go back to their old personas and entrance instead of their current Road Warrior rip-off persona?

I think trying to make the Road Warrior-like is a big mistake since both of them aren’t built like Hawk and Animal were and they don’t work the destructive style that the Warriors did. So far, they haven’t gotten over so I think modifying the gimmick would be a good idea.

Just have to comment.  I’ve been watching wrestling for over 60 years, and the past compared to today – I think Vince McMahon may be the one with “donkey dung for brains”.  Sorry if that hurts. He doesn’t get that the fans don’t want what he wants.  They’ve shown it. I can only hope HHH can improve things, if he ever gets the chance.

To be fair, some fans are happy with the product as they get fans to tune into their shows and buy the WWE Network. With that said, I understand your frustration and I agree that they do leave money on the table. I have always felt that you can market to kids, but also make it entertaining for the adults that come to shows and watch the product with them. I look at things like “The Lego Movie” or “Frozen”. Kids love it but adults like it too. I don’t understand why Vince doesn’t understand that if he made more people happy with the product, more money would come his way. And I think if/when HHH takes over, there will definitely be more continuity and less logic gaps.
