THE ELIMINATION CHAMBER, DREAMER, WHY THE FINK SHOULD ALWAYS RING ANNOUNCE IN THE GARDEN AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2015-01-16 10:00:00
Why has WWE "eliminated" the Elimination Chamber? Outside of Money in the Bank matches and The Rumble it's clearly one of the top gimmick matches. Is this a further reduction of dangerous matches to coddle and protect the roster? With just major one championship they effectively nuked one MITB match.

One of the reasons they have done away with the PPV is that so many Arenas are now renovating, preventing WWE from being able to hang the structure above the ring when they are done, due to permanent videoscreens above the center of the venue. I am told that the match isn't completely dead but that the company has pulled back on using it as an annual event.

WWE's efforts to make Roman Reigns their top babyface seem to be failing. This seems so simple to me. He naturally looks and seems like a low key, cool guy. Why don't they keep him that way? He shouldn't be the white knight babyface. He should be like Stone Cold & the Rock, who didn't really care about anybody but themselves, usually. Why is character development so hard for WWE?

It's hard because the person in charge (Vince McMahon) has a vision and sometimes that vision doesn't match up to the audience, yet that person doesn't want to accept that his way isn't always the best. So, until he does, we remain where we are.

Why does Tommy Dreamer keep running House of Hardcore shows if he's under contract to TNA?

Dreamer isn't signed to any contracts for his work in TNA, hence, he can wrestle, promote, etc. anywhere he wishes.

I just saw your article on the Summerslam 2015 location. Do you think WWE will stay have the big event in the NY/NJarea or will they go back to Southern California? I'm afraid WWE will go back on the ad and screw us out of Summerslam?

Nothing is set in stone, but based on what we have heard, the show will remain in the NYC Metropolitan area.

How long until we see The Dudley Boyz back in WWE?

I haven't heard anything concrete, but Philadelphia in the Royal Rumble would be the perfect place to bring them back....and The Ascension has been knocking old tag teams....but again, we haven't heard anything concrete. I wouldn't be shocked to hear the two sides have spoken.

I see Mike Johnson always makes a comment about Howard Finkel not announcing MSG but why? Finkel is older and it's a new generation. Please explain to me why this is a big deal.

I guess it just has to do with my belief that when it comes to professional wrestling, certain traditions should be honored. Howard Finkel was the voice of not just MSG but a number of other WWF venues and obviously Wrestlemania for ring announcements. To me, he's the greatest ring announcer of all time and to have that asset and not use it, especially in an Arena that's always had a premium placed upon it, just seems wrong. Some things should never change and Finkel is, was and always will be the Michael Buffer of pro wrestling - I want to see WWE treat him as such.
