THE STYLES CLASH, COULD ECW REPLICATE SUCCESS IF IT HAD STARTED TODAY, ZIGGLER MAIN EVENTING WRESTLEMANIA & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-12-27 10:00:07
With so many hardcore fans of ECW wanting to revive the company, is there a scenario where a similar promotion could come to national prominence? They would have to focus on younger talent, obviously. I don't think the extreme style could work on a large scale, as I think the business has changed too much. However some of ECW's strengths (listening to the fans, focus on in ring action) seems to be what WWE is lacking right now. Your thoughts/

I think it's possible but not probable. For one, there aren't the type of veterans out there that can make stars the way Terry Funk did in ECW. That went a long way towards building the credibility of the talents. Two, I don't think any promotion can come out of the gate and build the legitimacy of a championship the way ECW did. Three, there's no small TV outlets for the promotions to base themselves off at an affordable cost the way ECW had Sportschannel Philadelphia. Four, I think in today's day and age, it's harder than ever for groups to get attention and capture the imagination of the audience. There are a lot of great promotions out there but some of them are struggling to fill a 500 seat venue. The times have changed. If ECW launched today, they wouldn't have the same success.

Hi i just read a post on facebook about AJ Styles move and if it should be banned i personally think it's a risk you take when wrestling and it's just how it goes your thoughts?

I don't mind the move at all, but I think he should make sure the person taking it knows what they need to do just as a precautionary measure since several have been injured.

What do you of instead of having not so good matches on the pre show with talent from main roster and using that time to showcase NXT talent somehow ?

In theory a nice idea, but I don't see how that helps promote the PPV itself.

I just finished watching Forever Hardcore (for like the 100th time) and I was wondering if you have had any personal interactions with New Jack? Is he really as crazy as he comes off in shoot interviews? Or is it more crazy like a fox? He was talking about trying to basically kill Vic Grimes in their scaffold match. Is that just talk, because I get that some guys give receipts, or is he dangerous?

I've interacted New Jack a ton of times over the years and what you see is what you get. If you show him respect, he shows you respect. If he feels you disrespected him, he's going to make that clear and it's not going to be pretty.

What are ur thoughts on having ziggler win the royal rumble and then beat brock lesnar at wrestlemania? Or have daniel bryan beat lesnar

Dolph Ziggler being in the Daniel Bryan position going into Wrestlemania is an interesting idea, but I don't have any real belief WWE would go that route. There's no word whether Daniel Bryan will be ready to go yet.
