Simple as this... How long do you think until they "pull the trigger" on Kevin Owens? (For now let's say as NXT champion) They really have something in this guy, who is a big deal, and they sure as hell would be stupid to drop the ball on him.
I can definitely see him getting the push he deserves in NXT. That is the domain of Triple H and he knows how good Steen is. The question is what happens when he moves up to the main roster and Vince McMahon is the one making the decision on Owens. I honestly can’t say what happens then.
How's this for a stunt to push the network? They buy the rights to distribute The Interview on their network. While it is unlikely to happen it could give them a huge boost even for one month. Some of those people might stick around.
Well, it would a stunt, I will give you that. I don’t see any chance of it happening or generating the money needed to make it break even if they did do it.
Do you think it's possible they have Cena go over Lesnar at the Rumble and then have Rollins cash in on Cena? This could set up Rollins vs Reigns at Mania? I ask because it really annoys me that Reigns has had almost zero to do with the former Shield members. Dude hasn't run down to help Ambrose once during a beat down and barely even brings up Rollins. Hell he was the one who got blasted with the chair during the Rollins heel turn. As a guy who grew up watching the NWA in the 80's I really miss continuity and stories that make sense and have a payoff. I still don't understand how Harper and Rowan have no problem fighting each other after being part of a "family" for a year and there never being a single incident of dissent between them. So dumb. Thanks.
Is it possible? Given the way Vince books heels, yes it’s very possible. Rollins has been booked to lose against Cena, even with help from The Stooges. So it wouldn’t shock me at all if Vince has him pick the carcass of Cena while he is hurt to win the Title. I think it would be the wrong way to go though. I think they need to start booking Rollins stronger, not weaker. Consider this. They announced a John Cena-Seth Rollins cage match, which was a rematch from the previous night’s PPV only with a better stipulation, in the first hour of Raw and they still lost hundreds of a thousands of viewers by the time the match aired. That tells me people don’t think Rollins has a chance to win and is not booked an equal to Cena.
As for continuity issues, you are preaching to the choir. Vince just thinks that whatever he tells us reality is, we will accept it. He really needs an fact checking editor for his creative process.
Zayn & Owens… built up over the next few months on NXT, culminating at WrestleMania this year. Do you think it’s a good idea? Do you think it’s possible WWE would consider it?
I LOVE the idea. I would love to see an NXT Title match on WrestleMania. They could very well steal the show if they do it.
I remember that WCW use to sell advertising space on their mat. Nowadays MMA companies do the same thing. Do you have any thoughts on why wrestling companies today don't do this? In the face of growing DVR usage this sort of ad placement seems like it would be a lucrative idea for both wrestling companies and marketing companies.
I know that they do it in Mexico. I agree with you, it’s a great revenue source. I would do it if I were WWE and NXT, if someone wanted to buy the space.
