The two have had a pretty storied feud over the last several years, as seen in the Pearce documentary "Seven Levels of Hate" and have only wrestled once since the culmination of that feud.
Given the announcement came out of left field, Pearce's recent guest stint as a guest trainer and producer at WWE NXT and Pearce's previous announcements that he was planning to wind down his in-ring career, one could surmise this might be the end of the road for him as a pro wrestler - but we'll have to see. If you are a fan of Pearce or the feud and live in that area, I'd advise you to go see the bout.
Here's the official press release:
Hollywood, CA (December 18, 2014) - In 2012, Colt “Boom-Boom†Cabana and
“Scrap Iron†Adam Pearce made wrestling history with their
internationally-revered “Seven Levels of Hate†Tour. This knock-down-drag-out
and wildly controversial Best-of-Seven (matches) Series took place worldwide and
was chronicled on the acclaimed 2013 documentary film of the same title, “Seven
Levels of Hate: The Uncut Story of Wrestling’s GREATEST Feudâ€.
Earlier this year, these two multiple-time World Champions stepped into the
squared circle opposite one another once again in “The Eighth Level†in which
Pearce emerged victorious under questionable circumstances. That bout evened the
series at four wins a piece, signifying an anticlimactic end to this modern-day
war, or so we thought.
On Sunday, December 21, 2014, The Oceanview Pavilion in Port Hueneme, CA and
Championship Wrestling from Hollywood (CWFHollywood) are proud to present the
ninth and final encounter between these two wrestling icons. The blockbuster
event has been dubbed “Nine: The Conclusionâ€.
“I had the privilege of promoting several bouts with these men and one of the
original unique seven matches in their series and I must confess that they may
have been the best bouts I’ve ever been involved in. Being able to present
“Nine†to the public is an absolute treat because these two men are the very
best in the game. I know it, the Industry knows it and the Fans know it,†said
CWFHollywood Owner David Marquez.
