CALIFORNIA'S KING OF INDIES TOURNAMENT BEING REVIVED WRESTLEMANIA 31 WEEKEND

By Mike Johnson on 2014-11-25 13:49:13

The King of Indies tournament, a California event promoted by All Pro Wrestling in 2001 that featured a number of top stars of that era from the indy scene including Samoa Joe, Low Ki, Daniel Bryan, Christopher Daniels, Brian Kendrick and others, will be revived over Wrestlemania 31 weekend as part of the WWNLive.com Experience events.

The tournament, alongside a ladder match between Low Ki and Xavier promoted by ICW in New York City, were the inspiration for the creation of Ring of Honor the following year.

Like the original tournament promoted by the late Roland Alexander, the tournament will run over two days, 3/27 and 3/28 in San Jose, CA at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. The tournament is being held, in part, to honor Alexander.

Competitors have not yet been announced.
