BRINGING BACK THE TRADITIONAL SURVIVOR SERIES CONCEPT, THE NETWORK AND MUCH MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-11-21 10:00:00
WWE is using the traditional Survivor Series elimination bout as the main event of the PPV this weekend. Do you think we'll ever see WWE go back to the old version of the show made up with nothing but the elimination bouts? With the WWE Network, it should be easier than ever to try different concepts for the shows.

I've written in the past about how I'd like to see WWE bring back that very concept for the show, so obviously I would like to see the company do just that. The Network should indeed make it easier for WWE to present themed-shows, but I honestly don't think we'll ever see the company present a PPV made up of nothing but elimination bouts.

I have been a subscriber of the WWE Network from the beginning. I think I speak for most subscribers when I say it isn't fair that WWE gives people a month free and yet we still pay. It’s like the cable companies giving great deals to the new clients and still making existing customers pay more. Why couldn't they offer a reward program for us who pay every month? Discounts on merchandise and tickets or something. I know its $10 but the best way to make something successful is by learning from the mistakes other companies make. What do you think?

WWE offered the free month as a way to push subscriptions upwards. This is no different than your cable company offering a free month of HBO and Showtime. Would it be awesome if WWE offered free merchandise…but they did! They offered existing subscribers WWE gift cards if they referred new subscribers. I think WWE has tried a lot of different promotional efforts and I don’t see the current one as anything disrespectful to their subscribers, myself included.

I bought the WWE Network’s six-month subscription back on March 25. That would have come due September 25. I'm thinking of renewing, just to watch old stuff. But I never got a request-for-renewal, which means they auto-renewed. I just checked my bank statement online, and there's a deduction, which means they auto-renewed. I'm cool with that, but I don't know if they're on a month-to-month deal, after fulfilling the initial six months, or did they renew for another six months without emailing or texting they were going to do so, or give me an option to do so on a monthly basis? What are they up to?

I’m not sure how you missed this, but WWE announced a few weeks ago that they have dropped the six month commitment. Going forward, you will be billed per month as usual, but you can opt out at any point.

Even though this move is rarely used outside of the Undertaker, why when performing the tombstone piledriver, the person on the receiving end laces their hands? I never quite got that.

It was just another way to help prevent injury during the execution of the move by helping to keeping themselves in a safe position.

I’m just curious who would be in your Mount Rushmore for Professional Wrestling and why? My personal choices would include Gorgeous George, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Steve Austin. I was tempted to add VKM but chose only those who had major contributions in the ring.

This is just my own personal preference, but I’d go with Vince McMahon, Steve Austin, The Rock and Hulk Hogan. You have to go with those who made the most money for the business and in my mind, in order, those are the guys.
