MARVEL STUDIOS IS GOING TO BE KEEPING BATISTA REALLY BUSY, FULL DETAILS

By Mike Johnson on 2014-10-28 14:34:42
Marvel Studios held an official unveiling event this afternoon at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood to announce new film projects and sequels set for the next several years.

Dave Bautista will figure into several of the new films.

"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" has been given a new, updated release date of 5/5/17. Bautista will obviously return as Drax The Destroyer.

However, as I noted back in August in the PWInsider Elite section, Bautista was also scheduled to reprise his role alongside the rest of the "Guardians" in a third "Avengers" film that was being planned as the climax of the current Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Officially announced today was not one, but two "Avengers" sequels, which will be released in 2018 and 2019. Those films, titled "The Infinity War Part One" and "The Infinity War Part Two", will be an adaptation of Marvel's "Infinity Gauntlet" series which sees cosmic villain Thanos (who had cameos in "The Avengers" and "Guardians of the Galaxy") try to conquer the universe, only to face the might of Marvel's heroes.

With Bautista's Drax having sworn to murder Thanos at the end of the first "Guardians" film, expect Bautista to play a nice role in the Avengers sequels as well.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" featuring Bautista is one of the biggest films of the year.

PWInsider.com first reported Bautista was signing a long-term deal with Marvel Studios to reprise his Drax the Destroyer character in late August in the PWInsider Elite section.
