TOP TNA ACT NO LONGER UNDER CONTRACT, WHAT HAPPENED AFTER BOUND FOR GLORY WENT OFF THE AIR AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-10-13 16:36:46
Last night's TNA Bound for Glory PPV was the final contracted date for each member of Team 3D, Bully Ray and Devon. Bully signed a short-term extension with TNA to return to close out the TNA Tag Team Series and work the PPV, which ended yesterday. Devon's contract with the company also ended yesterday. The TNA Hall of Famers are now free and clear to sign anywhere.

As we noted yesterday, Team 3D's grandstand challenge of The Bullet Club was edited off of the Bound for Glory PPV. After the PPV went off the air in Tokyo, Ray took the mic and again challenged The Bullet Club, promising to put each team member through a table. Bullet Club are the lead villains for New Japan Pro Wrestling and members Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows currently hold the IWGP Tag Team belts, a championship that was stripped of 3D, so technically they never "lost" the belts.

Nothing was said to the TNA talents working the PPV about a new TV deal. John Gaburick, Dave Lagana and I believe Matt Conway made the trip to Japan. Dixie Carter remained in Nashville.

As noted last night, Taz and Mike Tenay called the show "live" in studio as it was being broadcast. I thought it was one of their better calls in some time as Tenay was "in the zone" telling all sorts of stories about Japanese wrestling and Japanese wrestling personalities and was closer to the old "Professor" role he filled in WCW. Taz was a mix of being an analyst and being a joking color guy and it was obvious the pair were really enjoying themselves.

As I noted in my Post-Game Show in the Elite section last night, there were some frustrations leading into the PPV with aspects that Wrestle-1 were originally going to handle financially and production-wise, only for that to change after the show was announced and planning was underway.

With the conclusion of the PPV, TNA has no remaining live events for 2014.
