FORMER WCW & WWE STAR SEAN O'HAIRE PASSES AWAY

By Mike Johnson on 2014-09-09 22:35:45
Former WWE and WCW star Sean Christopher Haire passed away yesterday at his home in Spartanburg, SC. He was 43. The cause of his death has not yet been announced.

O'Haire was trained at the WCW Power Plant in Atlanta, GA and debuted on WCW TV in 2000 during the time period Vince Russo was booking. Russo brought a group of the trainees up and christened them the Natural Born Thrillaz, looking to create a new group of young heels trying to seize their opportunity instead of waiting for it.

O'Haire and Mark Jindrak became the WCW World Tag Team champions and held the belts until the company was purchased and absorbed by WWE in March 2001.

When the WCW talents began invading, the pair were in the middle of the invasion but would soon lose the WCW Tag straps to The Undertaker and Kane. The duo would be split up shortly after and O'Haire was sent to OVW for seasoning as WWE tried to come up with a new person and strategy for him.

That persona ended up being a manipulator who tried to get performers to embrace their darker side, attempting to get them to do unsavory acts, including getting Dawn Marie to "flash" the audience or getting Brian Kendrick to "streak" naked in the Arena.

Despite a series of vignettes where he showed a good aptitude for speaking, O'Haire was quickly put with Roddy Piper in a pairing that made little sense and never really clicked. The pair would be together until Piper was let go unceremoniously from the company after they weren't happy with comments he made during an expose about the business on a HBO special.

O'Haire was never really focused on again at that point, sliding down to work undercard matches and second-level TV series such as Velocity. He suffered an injury that required time off and although he was prepared to return, the company opted to release him in 2004.

After doing some independents and Japanese dates, O'Haire retired with the idea of attempting to make MMA his career. He worked some K-1 shows and once fought Butterbean but that career never truly clicked and by 2007, he was done with MMA.

In recent years, O'Haire's name would come up in the local South Carolina media, usually after arrests for fighting-related incidents at the local bars and clubs.

At the time of his passing, O'Haire was working as a personal trainer.
