ANOTHER FORMER WWE STAR SIGNED TO LUCHA UNDERGROUND AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-09-05 17:35:08
Add former WWE star Matt Striker to the list of talents working for the Lucha Underground series. Striker will be the lead announcer with Vampiro on color.

Talent working the tapings have been asked not to discuss their involvement with the series, at all, to anyone. This is partially because producers are unhappy with some of the contractual stuff being written about and partially because they want all media/hype/promotion to built around the 10/8 debut on the El Rey Network.

The series will feature all new characters for existing talents, so don't expect to see, say Mr. X from the independents working as Mr. X. I would assume the WWE-level names and the Luchadors from AAA will be exempt from this but the independent talents are being specifically cast to play new roles.

All signs are that John "Hennigan" Morrison and Chavo Guerrero have either signed or will be signing.

Ivelisse Velez was spotted in LA today, so she's in for the tapings. I have not heard that she has signed. There's quite a few alumni from the last season of Tough Enough appearing on the series.

Ricochet is going to be one of the top pushed names. Given that he's signed to WWNLive.com/DGUSA, obviously something was worked out there. I've heard he may be aligned with Konnan in the series' storylines.

There are a number of names floating around that have been invited to come in and work "dark matches" so we'll see who pops up at the taping.
