ISLE OF PUERTO RICO: WWC’s CARD FOR CATAÑO, ‘SEPTIEMBRE NEGRO’ GETS DATE & LOCATION, RICARDO RODRIGUEZ & MASON RYAN IN WWC, 1ST ‘CARLOS COLON CUP’; WWL MAKES ‘THUNDEROUS’ ANNOUNCEMENT, MORE ENVELOPES ARE DELIVERED, DENNIS RIVERA GETS PARTNER; EWO’s “TERRITORIO HOSTIL” THIS SATURDAY, CHASE STEVENS TO DEFEND TITLE AND MORE

World Wrestling Council (WWC)

WWC presented their weekly house show/TV taping last Saturday August 16th at the ‘Pepín Cestero Arena’ in Bayamón, PR. No major changes in current storylines took place and no information has been shared at this point. I wasn’t able to attend the show due to a family commitment that I had scheduled for the weekend. However, there are several comments from some people that were there, that stated there was much less attendance in the building than usual. I have heard anywhere from 150 to 250 fans were at the show. If this numbers hold true, those are not good news for WWC, especially during a time where they should be building momentum en route their biggest event of the year, Aniversario 41.

Attendance has been inconsistent for the company over the last several years, mainly due to at times feeling stagnant in their storylines and repeating over and over again the same matches week after week during the house show. The bigger problem is that they seem to always play it safe and stay in Bayamon, which has become the wrestling Mecca in the island. Much like with TNA when they were in Orlando every week, you have the same fans attending the shows all the time and the reactions are not as good due in part to being desensitized over time after the same matches week after week. If the in-ring action is good and the stories are good, people will come… Then again, that is just my opinion.

For this coming Saturday August 23rd, WWC will bring their weekly house show/TV taping to the “Cosme Beitía Sálamo Arena” in Cataño, PR. Some of the announced matches for the card that night are:

WWC has now announced that their next event ‘Septiembre Negro’ will be a two day weekend tour, taking place on Saturday September 6th at the ‘Pepín Cestero Arena’ in Bayamón, PR and Sunday September 7th in at the ‘Cancha Bajo Techo de Rincón’ in Rincón, PR. Some talents that have been announced as appearing during the tour are former WWE Superstars Mason Ryan and Ricardo Rodríguez.

Also scheduled for the event, WWC has announced that they will have the first “WWE Hall of Famer-Carlitos Colón Cup”. At the moment, no format has been officially announced.

No dates or locations have been announced for this year’s Aniversario 41 event.

World Wrestling League (WWL)

WWL once again continues to make moves and be very active during the course of last week. The following is a press release the company sent out pointing out the new additions to the company and how the road to their October event ‘Insurrection’ is taking shape:

EWO will present their anniversary event “Territorio Hostil” (Hostile Territory), this Saturday August 23rd at the ‘Mario Jimenez Coliseum’ in Guaynabo, PR. There have been two matches announced for the event at this point, and in my opinion, both have the potential to steal the show in a big way:
