MORE ON DAVEY RICHARDS' INJURY

The broken tibia Davey Richards suffered last night in Indiana, PA happened during a spot where he went for a sliding kick to the outside of the ring and his foot was caught in the mat. It was a complete freak accident.

Rob Van Dam suffered a broken ankle in ECW in 1999 when the same thing happened to him.

On his Twitter, Richards apologized to fans for the injury and noted he would "be out for a bit."

Richards also wrote, "Thanks so much to everyone for the best wishes- truly amazing. I'll be ok- could always be worse!! I can't help but be thankful for the injury. It truly shows the greatness of the fans and the place I work for. Human compassion is amazing."
