World Wrestling Council (WWC)

WWC presented their weekly house show/TV taping last Saturday August 9th at the ‘Pepín Cestero Arena’ in Bayamón, PR.  The following are the highlights from the show:

-          ‘El Chico Ilegal’ Chicano defeated WWC Universal champion Mighty Ursus in a non-title match, thus making him the #1 contender for the title.

-          The 2 out of 3 falls match for the WWC World Tag Team titles ended up in a time limit draw during the third fall.  This feud between ‘Los Boricuas’ (Perez & Castillo) and ‘Los Templarios’ (ASH & De La Vega) seems to be far from over.

-          We have a new WWC Jr. Heavyweight champion after Tommy Diablo defeated former champ Angel ‘Fashion’ Perez.

-          Mighty Ursus interfered in the Ray Gonzalez vs Savio Vega match, thus the match ending in a DQ in favor of Gonzalez if I understood the finish correctly.

Speaking of Savio Vega, during his promo for his match vs Gonzalez on Saturday TV show, he was speaking in T.N.T. gear, while out of nowhere he takes off his mask and said that he was tired of playing games and now, as Savio Vega, he would end this long time feud with Gonzalez.  Interesting move in the storyline, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason for this change in character.  This change, in my opinion, may be a precursor for the original ‘Los Boricuas’ faction, of WWE fame in the 90’s, to get back together going into the build for ‘Aniversario 41’.

For this coming Saturday August 16th, WWC will be back to the ‘Pepín Cestero Arena’ in Bayamón, PR for their weekly house show/TV taping.  Some of the announced matches for the card that night are:

Main Event – Street Fight

‘Mr. Ray-tings’ Ray Gonzalez vs ‘El Boricua Mayor’ Savio Vega

Rematch from last Saturday’s house show

‘El Chico Ilegal’ Chicano vs Mighty Ursus w/ ‘El Magnate’ Jose Manuel Ortega

WWC World Tag Team Title Rematch

NO DQ, No Time Limit and There Has to be a Winner

‘Los Boricuas’ – Miguel Perez & Huracan Castillo vs ‘Los Templarios’ - ASH & William De La Vega w/ ‘El Magnate’ Jose Manuel Ortega

WWC Jr. Heavyweight Title Match

‘Mr. San Juan’ Tommy Diablo (c) vs Angel ‘Fashion’ Perez

Plus 3 more matches…

WWC has now announced that they will be bringing back their long standing big event ‘Septiembre Negro’.  This event was skipped last year due to Aniversario being pushed over to the month of September.  There are some rumors about this year’s Aniversario 41 event now being pushed back to October; which could very well be the latest this event would have taken place in a long time.  Normally, Aniversario is an event that takes place June or July every year.  No dates or locations have been announced yet.  If I was asked to place a bet on it, I would venture to say that they will pencil it for the 3rd weekend in October, maybe even going up against WWL’s return to Puerto Rico.  We will see how this all plays out.

World Wrestling League (WWL)

The WWL continued to be very active during the course of last week, again making some announcements regarding signings for their next scheduled event, which as we have mentioned in past columns, will be their return to the Puerto Rico wrestling scene after focusing their efforts in Mexico during great part of 2013 and the beginning of 2014.

"WWL INSURRECTION” will take place at the ‘Pepín Cestero Arena’ in Bayamón, PR on Saturday October 18th, 2014.  Some of the confirmed superstars for the event are WWL’s World Champion Monster Pain w/ his manager Mistress Glenda Lee, ‘Los Mamitos’ - Mr. E  & Sexy B, ‘El León’ Apolo, Aquiles, Atlas, Blue Demon Jr., Stephano, Sensacional Carlitos and many more surprises to be confirmed and announced soon.

During this past weekend’s TV episode, the company confirmed the participation of the following talents for the event in October: ‘La Mina de Oro’ Dennis Rivera, Mr. Big, Jose Chaparro and ‘El Profe’.  These are all well known local talents that will give the Puerto Rican fans some established stars to go see also, in addition to the already announced roster that we spoke about previously.  They also announced the first three matches that will be part of the card:

Extreme Rules Match – ECW Originals

Balls Mahoney vs Sabu

WWL Goddess Match

Ivelisse Velez vs ‘La Rosa Negra’ (a.k.a. Black Rose)

High Flying Action

            ‘Sensacional’ Carlitos vs ‘Mr. 450’

Jose Huertas Gonzalez, better known to the wrestling world as ‘Invader #1’, had to get his family to safety this past Monday night, when a section of his house was caught on fire.  The initial reports place the fire as ‘accidental’, potentially as a result of a short circuit.  The damages were estimated in approximately $75,000.  The new article states that the fire, which apparently initiated in the garage area, consumed a 2003 Mitsubishi Highlander valued at around $8,000 and a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle that was valued at around $6,000 among other material things.  His family was taken to safety and had to spend the night at a neighbor’s house, who was kind enough to take them in.   http://www.primerahora.com/noticias/policia-tribunales/nota/sequemauncarroypartedelacasadeelinvader-1028228/
