A federal jury in Minnesota today awarded Jesse Ventura $1.8M in his lawsuit against the estate of "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle.
In Kyle's best selling book from 2012, Kyle said that he beat up a man in a California bar fight that he later found out was Ventura. He also said that Ventura made many anti-government and anti- Navy SEAL statements. Ventura sued, saying the story defamed him and that Kyle used it to profit off of Ventura's name.
The defense presented witnesses that said the fight happened, but the judge didn't find them credible. Ventura presented witnesses that said it never happened.
The jury said yesterday it couldn't reach a verdict but the judge told them to go back and try again. They came to their verdict today.
