BY THE NUMBERS: LOOKING AT THE WEEK IN TELEVISION FROM WWE, TNA, AND ROH

By Richard Trionfo on 2014-07-29 07:39:15
After a week when Impact had the most wrestling on television, the show fell to fourth place for the week. Raw won the week again and was one of three shows to have an increase from last week. Raw ended with 42 minutes of wrestling, up 4 minutes from last week. The second place show was Smackdown and the 32 minutes was 1 more than last week. Ring of Honor, which had a full episode of qualifying matches increased by 20 minutes from last week to finish in third place with 28 minutes of wrestling. Impact fell 15 minutes to 25 minutes to finish in fourth place. NXT dropped to fifth place with 21 minutes of wrestling. After a glimmer of hope, Main Event fell back into the teens with 18 minutes of wrestling. Superstars finished in last place with 8 minutes of wrestling.

The total for the week was two minutes higher than last week and was the highest total in seven weeks. We are now eleven weeks since the last time we broke 200 minutes of wrestling.

After a week without a one minute match, we had four this week, including one from TNA. This was the first time that Impact had a one minute match since they had two on the same episode on February 27th. The one minute match on Smackdown between Paige and Naomi was the 400th one minute match from WWE, out of the 478 total one minute matches.

We passed 6,200 total matches while Raw hit the 1,600 match mark. The next match on Impact will be the 1,600th non WWE match. Impact passed 6,200 minutes and we are 237 minutes from hitting 10,000 non-WWE minutes of wrestling.

Next week should see NXT pass 4,100 minutes and could see Raw pass 8,100 minutes, but based on recent weeks, there is no guarantee since Raw has only had more than 44 minutes of wrestling five times in the last ten weeks.

Ring of Honor regained the average match length lead from Main Event thanks to the need by WWE to have so little wrestling on the show. Since the move to the WWE Network, Main Event has averaged just over 6.5 minutes of wrestling per match and less than 20 minutes of wrestling per show.

Next week will see the totals for the month of July in the column.

The wrestling times below cover the wrestling that takes place during the show so commercials are not included. All times are rounded to the closest minute (examples: a 4:23 match will be listed as 4 minutes while a 4:32 match will be listed as 5 minutes and anything under a minute is rounded up to a minute).
