LANA'S WWE BATTLEGROUND PROMO LEADS TO NEGATIVE MEDIA FALLOUT

The Lana promo at last night's WWE Battleground PPV, where she remarked, "You blame Russia for the recent current events? When in fact you Americans should be scolded for your war-mongering in Afghanistan and Iraq? You Americans should be insulted and afraid."

That comment in the promo, coming just days after a Malaysia Airlines flight was shot down over the Ukraine, led to a flurry of negative media coverage of WWE internationally.

The New York Daily News, The Daily Mall in Great Britain, The UK's The Independent, Australia's News.com.au and The Washington Post all covered the Lana and Rusev characters, the promo and the reaction online from those felt it veered too closely to the Malaysian Flight tragedy, which caused 300 deaths.

WWE has yet to respond to the news coverage.
