WWE NO LONGER RELEASING TALENTS?, ROCK N' ROLL EXPRESS, WWE APP SPOILING PPV FINISHES AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-06-05 10:00:00
Double question, do you think they should have turned Dean Ambrose instead of Seth Rollins? I do. And do you think this angle will lead to Sami Zayn being called up as the new shield member to even the odds? Seems the likely direction to me. Thanks!

While Ambrose, to me, is the best natural villian of the trio, I want to see how the Rollins turn plays out before I say it should have been someone else. Adding Zayn is a great idea, but I think he'd be better served debuting as himself, not in what is now someone else's old gimmick.

First of all, thanks for the great job you guys do on the site. My question concerns Kofi Kingston. What happened that turned him into a jobber? Did he do something wrong, or offend someone or what?

While I really hate the term jobber, I didn't edit your question because it really emphasizes how WWE hasn't used Kingston in forever. I haven't heard that he's fallen out of favor, although more than one person has joked to me that hes being used this way because he was CM Punk's traveling partner and "they can't punish Punk." Whether there is any truth to the joke, I can't tell you.

It's Payback night and I'm watching it later. Which means watch out for twitter and probably avoid PWInsider although you guys are pretty good by not spoiling through the titles. Aww here comes an email from a bud, NOPE. WWE. Title is xxxx beat xxxx in the Last Man Standing match. No way to avoid this without ignoring emails. Oh look Shield, Evolution.... was a xxxx. Gee thx WWE now I don't have to buy the PPV. Is this something new and amazingly as I uninstalled the WWE app, the emails vanished.

It's something WWE does with the App. I agree with you in that they need not to give spoiler material away for people who aren't watching in real time or other time zones.

I was looking through the new WWE Encyclopedia and noticed that the Rock N' Roll Express are not included in it. I know they've wrestled on at least a couple WWF Shows. Have they ever been employed with the WWE, or were they employed by Smoky Mountain at the time?

I don't believe they were ever under contract to WWE as wrestlers, but they did make some appearances in 1993 while working for SMW and then later as NWA representatives during the short time WWF was pushing the letters. Gibson was later signed as a trainer and helped in developmental.

I had a question regarding reports I've read on other websites which applys to yesterday's Q&A on people like JTG. I've read that WWE had a "don't fire anybody" rule unless it's someone in developmental or someone with a 3rd strike or someone that did something extremely bad that there is no way around it. I've never once seen it reported on this site and wanted to you guys to confirm or deny it. It does sort of make sense as in it's weird seeing guys like JTG, Curt Hawkins, Justin Gabriel, etc. still on the roster. Ezeikial Jackson had to wait until his contract ran out. There was someone who asked for their release which was granted. Other then that nobody was let go or fired or released from the company aside from the NXT/Developmental talents.

You aren't the first person of late to mention this to me. There is a belief within some in the company that as a way to downplay controversy and bad feelings when people leave, WWE has opted to just let contracts run out instead of just suddenly announcing releases. Whether that is conjecture or not, I can't tell you 100%.
