Just curious in watching the Mick Foley documentary how did WWE get Shane Douglas for comments on the DVD? I always thought there was a ton of bad blood between Douglas and the company. Is it just a case where money talks? Or is it because Douglas and Foley are good friends and go back to the beginning, and he did so out of respect for Foley?
The heat is more on Shane's end. WWE doesn't really care. They do what makes sense for business. They don't worry about him.
There was a question last week on the Q&A about Cesaro losing steam since Mania. I kind of agree with that there is. While I love the idea of Cesaro with Heyman, I just felt Cesaro got a bigger reaction and was just more over with the Real Americans. Particularly in Jan, Feb and March. So in the last few weeks I am not sure if its Heyman overshadowing Cesaro, or if the fans just don't know whether he is a face or a heel. So my question is not do you think if it's a good or bad idea he is paired with Heyman, but has he lost some steam since that night after Mania? And if so, is it still really early and we should let it play out a few months?
I think the problem is that the fans were ready for Cesaro to turn face and when it didn't happen, it cost him some steam. I think they wanted him to turn face and when he didn't, they didn't get what they wanted.
How you ever looked at Total Divas? Do you think that a show like that can do more good or more harm to the women's division? For one thing, it is not a family-friendly PG show with all of the sexuality and profanity. It shows their real names (not that we can't google them anyway, but still...). Promos for the next episode are longer than their actual matches. It may help their celebrity status (I guess) but none of the women involved are anywhere near the diva's title, and not to mention you may wind up legitimately disliking a girl who is supposed to be a baby face on WWE tv (e.g. Cameron) when you see how they "really are" (used quotes because I believe the fakest programming on tv is reality shows). What are your thoughts? Thanks for reading and have a great day.
I am not a fan of the show since it's not my cup of tea. But it is what it is, and it's on a Network in E! that markets that kind of shows. I don't think it really matters a lot to the fans. Yep, some come across differently than they do on WWE TV but the company isn't concerned with that as they feel how they present them is how they will be received.
Why does it take TNA so long to release their PPVs on DVD? Bound for Glory 2013 was just released this week, 6+ months after the event. I realize they function as their own DVD distributor, but so does ROH, and their events are released on home video typically within a few weeks. I would think sales would be considerably higher if demand/interest wasn't allowed to cool off for several months.
They are short staffed for one thing. But honestly, I think that there just can't be that much demand because if there was, they would find a way to get them out.
If WCW had gotten their act together(booking, pushing new stars) how do you think they would fair in today's current climate? Obviously, the TBS/Turner,execs decision to no longer carry wrestling would, have to factor in some way
It is hard to say other than if they didn't have a TV slot, they would have gone under. Also, with AOL taking over, as they did, they would have had to make money or they would have been shut down. And they weren't making money at that time.
