JEFF JARRETT NOTES & NEWS

By Mike Johnson on 2014-04-14 17:40:35
Jeff Jarrett noted that a planned announcement for his Global Force Wrestling promotion has been pushed back until tomorrow due to a "major Hollywood publication needs one more day for exclusivity purposes." So, we will see what that means tomorrow. There are no plans for GFW events/tapings until the last quarter of this year.

There's also a crazy story going around after Jeff and Karen Jarrett worked for Ian Rotten's IWA Mid-South last night after Jarrett didn't get his agreed upon pay. Rotten, by his own admission on a Facebook post, claimed that Jarrett was shorted half of his pay because Rotten "forgot to take it out of Paypal." Rotten also admitted that was "embarrassing" and that it was his mistake.

The story takes two turns from there, depending on who you talk to.

In one version, Jarrett loudly cursed out Rotten in the back and his wife went to the ring and grabbed the ring mic to announce that Ian was a "piece of sh**" who doesn't pay talent. There were people really upset about her doing that as it was during Drake Younger's farewell speech for the company as he's heading to WWE developmental.

The other version is that Jarrett got loud and physical and allegedly slapped Rotten's son (about to turn 18 next month) and took property (allegedly Rotten's son's eyeglasses) then refused to return it because he wasn't getting his money. A source close to Jarrett noted that he likely only took the date to scout potential talents. Rotten also claimed on Facebook that Jarrett was inebriated at the show, but the show took place on a Sunday and Indiana is a dry State on Sundays, so that's a hell of a feat to accomplish. I also have to think that if Jarrett had physically assaulted someone in that locker room, pretty much that entire crew would have had Rotten's back out of loyalty. Rotten claimed he had a ton of witnesses to Jarrett's behavior.

Rotten stated that Jarrett was going to be getting his money in a few days but would need to spend it on a "defense attorney" as Rotten claimed he was going to the local Sheriff to swear out a complaint against Jarrett for assaulting a minor. One has to question why the police weren't called right then and there if/when the alleged assault happened.

We received a few emails asking if this was an angle, but I haven't heard of any cameras nearby for any of this. If footage from backstage shows up, it's a work. If not, probably not and you have to decide what version you believe.

My personal guess is that nothing comes out of this. Traditionally, any time that a "real life" issue happens at a pro wrestling event, the courts get all caught up in the "real vs. fake" issue and assume it's all part of the show, so if this goes to court, it'll get lost in that issue.

Rotten did specifically mention on Facebook that he would be sending us a copy of the complaint after it was filed, so we'll see if that pops up in email soon enough.

Note: Several readers sent word that while Sunday is a "dry" day for Indiana, that is only for liquor stores, not restaurants.
