Lanny Poffo was interviewed by The Tampa Tribune today. He was asked why his brother Randy Savage is not in the WWE Hall Of Fame. He said that the rift between Savage and Vince McMahon started when Vince thought Savage was done in the ring and made him an announcer. Savage then went to WCW to wrestle, and showed he was not washed up, and McMahon started doing The Nacho Man parody skits, which portrayed Savage as old and decrepit.
Poffo said that Savage responded by making an online video about Stephanie McMahon, which he thinks furthered the rift.
Poffo said that Vince called Savage in 2010 and offered a Hall Of Fame induction but Savage would only do it if his brother and father, promoter Angelo Poffo, were also inducted. He knew his father would appreciate it. WWE declined.
When Savage died Poffo said that WWE never called to offer condolences. He said that they did a tribute video for public relations reasons.
He said that WWE called again in 2012 to put Savage in the Hall posthumously and Lanny said he would honor his brother's wishes and only do it if they family was inducted. They declined. Now Poffo says that if they want to induct Savage, they should, for the fans. But he will not attend the ceremony.
